I got sick of replacing bamboo steamers which we use almost daily and thought I would give this a try. This is a great piece of gear!
For starters it's a great cook pot. If you're making pasta use the large insert and it makes straining out the pasta a piece of cake - although for very fine pasta like angel hair you may have to pick it out of the strainer holes, but that's no different than any other method for straining angel hair.
To steam two kinds of vegetables, or to boil one and steam the other, use both inserts. Or to steam just one thing, use only the top insert.
The size of this pot is great, and although it cleans up quite easily, it's a large pot and makes for a fair bit of clean up if you use all parts. I may end up buying a second smaller steamer pot for a smaller job like just steaming a bunch of broccoli only. That said, I am very pleased with this purchase!
