My lumia 930 / icon

I have a global version of the lumia icon, the lumia 930. I love it for some reasons, first of all, it's so beautyful that i can't believe it's real. its a extremely fast phone, theres no bugs and no "wait tile" when you are whitching from on to another app. i just don't like the battery that last only for 5 hours if i use it a lot.

The phone I had previous to the icon (aka Lumia 930) was the Lumia 920. I still have it & other than the USB port it works perfectly. But I needed a new phone. The Icon was really the only way for me to go as it was the best successor to the 920. I'm spoiled on the Qi wireless charging. As much as I would've loved the 1520, the phablet may have been to much phone for new. The 1020 is the camera of my dreams but there's no Qi wireless charging. And while I would've loved to have the 41mp camera with Xenon flash, the icons 20mp with led flash still kicks butt. It's not as comfortable to hold as my 920 because it's not rounded off plastic & it's a quarter of an inch bigger than my 920. But its a small sacrifice for such a lovely screen. I do miss the glance screen & tap to wake up from my 920 as it made the smart covers from HTC look stupid. All round I love my Icon. It's a beautiful phone with a killer came that only comes 2'nd to the 1020.

better accessibility or ease of access features

I really want to love my window phone that's why I keep one and I keep going back to it because I miss it's overall beautiful UI. But as a low vision person I find myself switching my Sim beck to my nexus 5 because I type a lot . I text and email mostly than talk and I find it easier on my eyes to use the nexus 5. Why? It's a combination of font type and font size and color contrast. For starter the keyboard letters on the buttons seem bigger and that helps me register my keyboard better . The white tracing line as you swipe against the dark key board contrast well. For example in the window phone I choose the dark theme because it's easier on the eyes and I choose darker accent colors because the white font contrast well against the darker accent color in the texts bubbles so it's easy to read BUT in other areas in the ui when the font color matches the accent color it's really not good while using the dark theme. For example a brown accent great for text bubbles with white for but not easy on the eyes when the swipe tracing line is brown against a the dark keyboard of the dark theme. I switch to the white theme sometimes because the accent colors contrast well against the white keyboard but the white theme as a whole not easy to read for low vision. It's somehow lacks contrast and bolder print color against the white theme. I love ligh accent colors but white font against the lighter colors accent colors is a nightmare for example white font on blue or yellow accent color is horrible but yellow accent color looks great on the dark theme but not in text bubbles where the font is white and not on the home screen where the Live Tiles titles are white. so in short give us the option to choose a white keyboard with the dark theme or and give us the option to choose the font color either white are black and texting so it will contrast better against the chosen accent color for the UI also give us a chance to contrast better or bold the text better while using the White team sort off like iOS 8 does as much as I hate or dislike to use iOS as a comparison but I do have to admit that I like a lot their accessibility features like the double finger swipe from the top to read whatever text available on the screen. please also make the font bigger on the Facebook app because I think it is a Microsoft developed app so maybe you can control that I tend to go to my Nexus 5 to read my Facebook because the font is much bigger and clearer and another thing while I like to use Cortana her suggestions for what interests me the font is too small to read and I tend to go back to okay Google to read the news and the stuff that's on the okay Google page because the font is bigger and clearer to read and again I do really love my Windows Phone and I tend to go back to it and miss it but then I realize but I really need the most is the accessibility features that I explained above and above all and above all and I am repeating the sentence as I dictate this review on the dictation microphone sound on the Nexus 5 keyboard please please give us the dictation microphone on the Windows Phone keyboard in all apps so we can talk to our phone and not type and that is a great help to a low vision person I hope I was very clear on what needs to be done thank you so much and I do hope you guys would take that into consideration

Like I said in the summery it's excellent and almost perfect. I really miss led notificator, as I don't wan't to press power button or double tap every 5 minutes. Forget the glance, but implement the led ASAP. I really hope that you will do that on the 940 or atleast on the 950. All my colleagues and friends that are using this phone agree with me on this one. On the other side this is a top stellar phone with great speed, THE BEST screen and AMAZING camera. I really like the WP as well. Sincerely Yours since 1996.

Excellent camera, innovative OS, "app gap" closing, but still waiting for firmware update

Fantastic phone. Check whether there are any apps you need that are still missing (the gap has been closing, but an app that is essential for you might not be available).
Big problem is Verizon - while you are able to get Windows 8.1 update separately through the preview program, the Cyan/Denim firmware updates have not been released yet, which is very frustrating.

Great except connectivity problems

I'm sure everyone else piles on about the lack of apps and that is still a problem. I work in IT and nine times out of ten when I find a good utility that will help with work, apps are not available for Windows Phone. My other HUGE complaint is the poor job the phone does with wifi and cellular connections. Frequently I cannot connect to wireless networks and the settings will show SSIDs that are cached from before. Turning off and back on does not resolve the problem nor does airplane mode and a full restart of the phone is necessary to restore wifi. I have tried running the stock OS and Preview for Developers and both have this wifi problem. I also move around a lot in a building that is very dense and my cellular connection usually takes a long time to reestablish connection to Verizon's network. While it is actively searching it drains the battery very quickly and heats up the phone to a temperature that is uncomfortable to the touch. Otherwise, love the camera, love the Lumia apps, UI is fantastic, phone is very responsive, screen is great. I do wish there was more of a selection of phones.
