Great phone with slightly disappointing build quality

I upgraded to this phone from a Samsung Galaxy S Captivate after the main flash storage died on it almost exactly at the two-year mark. the Captivate presented the gold standard in cellular phones to me in almost every category (The notable exception being the barely functional GPS), and as the Skyrocket is one of its direct successors, I naturally had high expectations; and for the most part, it either met or exceeded them. The screen is absolutely gorgeous, the processor has yet to so much as blink at any app or game I've thrown at it, the reception is great, the speaker is LOUD, and the GPS locks on in under 3 seconds. If everything mentioned above were magically transplanted into a Captivate shell, it would be the perfect phone. Sadly, however, while the Captivate with its metal battery cover was probably the most sturdy phone I have owned, the Skyrocket has a rather flimsy back that fits a little too loosely, and is attached by tiny plastic clips that make me cringe every time I open the battery cover for fear that they will snap off; unlike most touchscreen phones, on this one the screen is probably significantly tougher than the back. Luckily there are a plethora of excellent cases out there for this phone, which effectively neutralize its one major con. So as long as you can live with using a case, I would at present recommend this phone above any and all others - and hopefully this flaw will be gone in future models.
i have had a samsung product for sometime now and i always seem enjoy them more so then other devices. If you want something reliable and decent looking this is the phone.
while being lightweight and plastic, it still feels very substantial in the hands.
should have been HD
the screen glass is not made by corning gorilla glass. it is manufactured in-house by samsung. ive got a screen protector on it anyway and so far its still good.
didnt realize how big of a phone this is and i have relatively large hands. my thumb makes quite the effort to stretch to the top and bottom of the screen. but bigger is better :)
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: Not high def, wiggly side buttons
