Great Fridge; Bad Freezer

We recently purchased this refrigerator. The freezer fan was noisy. We ended up taking the back panel off and tightening it (must have been knocked out of place during delivery). The fridge is roomy. My issue is the freezer. It won't keep things cold. I have freezable lunch bags that I freeze overnight and they keep my work lunch cold all day. My old freezer kept the inner gel packs solid all day. I turned this freezer all the way up to the coldest setting and it doesn't even freeze the gel packs. Just cools them. I'm so upset!

Lots of features for a top freezer refrigerator

Due to space limitations in our kitchen, we had to get a top freezer refrigerator. Since our current Frigidaire refrigerator was 16 years old and still running without any problems, we decided to go with this model. It has everything we were looking for: LED lighting, dual temperature controls, and smudge-proof stainless steel. The only drawback when comparing it to the older model, is that it's much deeper. I'd would have preferred to have the same dimensions as our previous refrigerator.

Limited top freezer options

I bought this last month because my old refrigerator had a problem with the defroster & wanted to get a top freezer. I could not find one to fit the space my old one did so this was as close as I could get without losing sq footage. When it came it already had a dent in the front because the stainless steel is so thin in what they make now. I tried to use the space to place items I had in the old fridge. It would not hold as much on the door bins as the old one but had a couple of bins that I wouldn't use. Also it is short on shelves, so wasted space. I ended up ordering another shelf to have enough storage. The little tray at the top holds very little and is hard to pull out where you can use it. I have it turned to the coldest setting on the fridge, but still is not as cold as the old one. I am disappointed in the workmanship and materials used in the appliances today. I feel the other brands have a lot of the same problems as I looked at lots of them.

Noisy!

After having our refrigerator for 26 years, we thought it best to replace it before it died. I miss the roominess, the quietness, and not having to reach so far into the shelves to get things. It is 4 inches narrower and much deeper than our old one.... which doesn't work so well for senior citizens.

Looks good and saves money

Needing a replacement refrigerator, we selected this unit because of the space, shape limitations within our kitchen cabinet configuration. Other models would have fit and maybe even been cheaper, but this one was "Energy Star". There was an obvious reduction in our monthly electric bill directly as a result of switching to this unit. It may take a few years, but the savings will eventually pay for the fridge.

Poor temperature control

This refrigerator would be totally acceptable if it were not for the wild and random temp fluctuations. With both controls set to normal, the temp was far below the acceptable range. Setting bot controls midway to max gave somewhat workable results. At one point, setting the temp control to full max had no affect. Turning it full off and then back seemed to restore operation. These fluctuations may occur multiple times in one day or it may operate several days without an occurrence. These observations were made using two new frig/freezer thermometers with rated accuracy.
I would recommend potential buyers to select a different model or brand.

Using a manual thermometer, will only read the temperature of where it is located and not over the whole refrigerator like the internal thermometer, which can cause the reading to possibly vary or be slightly off.
