Awesome screen, great OS; overall a great buy.

While most people will probably be looking at the iPhone 4s or a comparable Android, this phone is a true competitor with an OS that not only beats Android but stands toe-to-toe with the iOS 5.
First off the AMOLED screen is beautiful and there's lots of it. The 8MP rear camera also impresses. The star of the show is of course the Windows Phone OS which is quick, accessible and less "appy" than iOS or Android. You need less touches and apps to get more done, as many tasks are consolidated into a few hubs. It's a highly underrated OS that really has grown to be an awesome choice to choose.
Also there's a lot of features that you may otherwise miss such as Microsoft Office, Xbox-live built-in, wi-fi, tethering, a front-facing camera, multi-tasking, really fast 4G data speeds, still a lot of apps, live tiles, nice speaker, Netflix, beautiful yet functional user interface, solid glass screen, no freezing or stuttering and a lot more.
There are a few downsides. The build quality is definately solid, but uses a bit too much plastic to shed the weight. Though in its credit it does feel very light and thin. Also this phone only has 16GB of free space for music, videos etc. The old Samsung Focus had an expandable micro-SD slot so one could have around 40GB of memory. The omission of this slot and the lack of a lot of built-in memory is unfortunate. Though 16GB is competitive and is more than all the other Windows Phones.
Overall this phone is quite good; Samsung never dissapoints. I can show it off to those snotty iPhone users and it trumps the Android phones. The OS is sleek and more stylish and attractive than its competitors and the large screen shows it all off. If you're looking for a great phone with a great OS and a nice alternative to the vanilla iPhone and Android, don't miss the Samsung Focus S.
Pros: tools, menus, camera/video quality, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, screen quality, very thin
Cons: limited memory, number of apps, plasticy

Windows Phone is fast!
on November 11, 2011

If you were waiting on razor-thin iPhone 5 like me this is it! This phone is definitely worth every penny, as its crazy thin, has a gorgeous bright screen and is super-fast! I still can’t believe how fast it and solid it is comparing to my phones over the past year. I’ve had iPhone and Androids but this phone really stands out, with Windows Phone software really making my iPhone and sister’s Android feel really outdated and slow in comparison. I think I am actually falling in love with Windows Phone 7, it is really beautiful and fluid!
Build quality is actually very nice too, the phone feels paper thin literally and fairly light, but not too light that it slides off your palm. It is primarily made from all plastic but it in NO way feels cheap, actually very classy with nice black and elegant shine to it. Phone has a very nice 8 Megapixel camera and front 1.3MP for video-calling. Speaker is nice and can get pretty loud when on max volume level without distortion. Screen is certainly a feature to brag about, it’s a big and nice 4.27inch SAMOLED Plus that is very bright and has beautiful colors. Initially I was really worried about pixilation issues that other AMOLED screens have especially when screen is larger but SAMOLED+ seemed to solve all pixilation issues and it looks just as good as Retina display on iPhone.
4G network seem to be very fast with browsing and apps loading data fairly quick. Battery life is outstanding to me, as I can manage to go through entire day with heavy usage during every break at work, lots of email, youtube, spotify streaming. With heavy usage I can make through a half day before I need to charge.
Windows Phone 7 Mango is definitely something many people are missing out on. Windows Phone 7 shares nothing in common with old Windows Mobile phones, as it’s a complete rewrite. The OS is very solid, NEVER crashes, super-fast, easy to use and has great design aesthetics like iPhone’s iOS. All my main apps from iPhone are there and they look refreshingly beautiful and fast. There were certain cases when I was missing a specific app but I was easily able to find a descent substitute that works just as well. To me this is ultimate Facebook and social networks phone because it manages them by far better than any other smartphone platform I’ve used. I love apps with Live Tiles as literally simplifies the life when I can see my latest facebook/tweeter updates, RSS updates, news, weather, appointments and app notifications right on the home page without being have to dig down into apps. Best way I can explain the benefit of Live Tiles is that it is just as powerful as widgets on android but doesn’t slow down the phone or ruin the battery life even if you use plenty of live tiles. I think Windows Phone is definitely worthy software that can easily outperform other platforms especially in speed, prettiness, and ease of use.
This phone is for those who like very thin elegant devices that sport a gorgeous screen, powerful features, very reliable and easy to use smartphone. I now love Windows Phone!
Pros: tools, menus, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting, games, camera/video quality, speaker, battery life, durable
Cons: back cover somewhat too thin

Simply incredible

I've had several iPhones, and, while plenty pleased with them, was disappointed in the lack of innovation and screen size in their newest offerings. I took a long, hard look at WP7 and the Samsung Focus S and was impressed by the strides Microsoft took in both hardware and software. Microsoft is the only other company to rethink and innovate the mobile operating system, and they have succeeded with their newest iteration, WP7 Mango. The phone is fast, fluid, and intuitive - the major requisites of a smart phone.
Pros: menus, camera/video quality, battery life, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting, super amoled screen, super thin

Great Windows Phone

This is a great phone. Once you sit down and try it... you slowly fall for this OS. The device is stellar too. The screen is extremely bright and crazy sharp. Its by far the thinest and lightest phone i've owned (previously owned iphone 3gs). This thing is wicked fast with the 1.4Ghz processor and download speeds/page loads in the browser and extremely fast.
Pros: tools, menus, games, camera/video quality, speaker, battery life, Wi-Fi capable, durable, ease of use, good for texting, light, fast, mango phone

The sexiest Phone!

The design is just beautiful, the tiles flows as I use it. The colors are vibrant. I'd recommend it anyone. Mango OS is pretty stable. Car Bluetooth just works.
I'd recommend this over iPhone since the UI is much more interesting. Honestly, once people get their hands on this phone, they would never think about buying an Android phone anymore.
Pros: menus, games, camera/video quality, battery life, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting

Best gaming device out there and does more!

I'm a huge gamer and love the XBox 360 so having this phone was like a slam dunk for the XBox live games. I have Hydro Thunder, Rise of Glory, and Need for Speed. The graphics are superb on this phone as a gaming device but what blows me away is the ability to multitask during gameplay!! I check my work email, respond to texts, and run other apps and can easily switch back to resume my game! The battery life also does much better on this phone than Android or iPhone for games.
There are the other popular games too like Plants Vs Zombies, Angry Birds, and Fruit Ninja which all run much better than my iPhone did. There are so many other games I have just started exploring but it seems that Windows Phone must have done some XBox integration or something to make it so good.
I think overall this phone seems to rock as a consumer gaming device but also works like a champ for email, Office, and enterprisey type stuff when I'm at work.
Oh yeah, the Netflix app is the icing on the cake. I watched Tron Legacy in HD using the 4G network! SWEEEEET!
Still discovering a lot of features in this phone that my iPhone didn't have. So far I haven't found anything missing. It seems that Windows Phone is really far ahead of the competition.
Pros: tools, menus, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting, games, camera/video quality, speaker, battery life, durable, isn't an iphone or android!

Phone is amazing! Beats Android anyday!

I used to be an owner of the original focus and now just picked up the Focus S. This phone is amazingly fast! The same beautiful screen of the focus with a better camera, faster processor, and bigger screen. I just returned an LG Thrill for this and couldn't be happier. The LG had a Dual Core processor, but the 1.4 ghz on this focus s is way faster! Not a lag or a glitch one. Highly recommend!
Pros: menus, camera/video quality, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting
Cons: limited accessories

Best windows phone! GREAT OS!
on November 16, 2011

When I first picked up this phone I was surprised by how light and compact it was even though it was sporting a 4.3 inch super amoled plus sceeen. At first I didn't like the plastic feel since I've been using an Iphone for the pass 3 years, but the more I played with the phone the more I favored the feel of it over my Iphone. It may feel like plastic, but the build is solid! The windows phone os (Mango) is a nice switch from ios which feels a bit dated compared to Mango. Fast, responsive and very easy to use. There are some bugs but nothing major. A quick update could fix these bugs. Overall excellent phone and probably the BEST windows phone to date!
Pros: camera/video quality, ease of use, good for texting, very light weight!
Cons: software bugs
