I was an iPhone user for about 2 years before transitioning to the Windows Phone ecosystem. Don't get me wrong, I loved the iPhone;however, their OS got stale after a few months. I wanted something new, something fresh and let me tell you, the Samsung Focus S definitely is! The OS is simply wonderful, love their transition effects and the ease of use. Windows Phone was lacking before, but after the Mango update and the hardware, it's now complete.
The hardware on the phone is great. Samsung is known for making plasticky phones; however, the build quality on this phone is sturdy yet beautiful. It feels good in the hands because it's so thin and does not feel too big at all. The camera button placement is a bit off because you are sure to press it, opening up the camera interface, from time to time. I think this problem can be fixed with a case though.
Battery life is great, the Super AMOLED Plus display is amazing, and the quality is great. Overall, I am super pleased with this phone. I don't miss my iPhone one bit!
Pros: camera/video quality, battery life, ease of use
Cons: placement of camera button

I love my focus s! I upgraded from the focus which I loved too and still have. I love the way the phone feels. Touch screen is very responsive. The Windows Phone 7.5 operating system is super fast. The camera is quick easy and works while phone is locked. Battery life is ok. It's easy on the eyes with its live tiles. Very easy to use especially by my 68 year old friend. I also love how you can do a lot more with the me tile and friends tile. It's quicker because your not having to use a bunch of different apps. The voice activated features rock. It's great how you can text completely with out having to use your hands just your voice great for driving in a state that bans texting while driving like mine. I had left Windows Phones after my ppc6800 and went to an Iphone, but then came back after my phone was stolen and couldn't be traced even tho I had mobile me. I then found out Windows Phone 7.0 we were going to be able to do that on your own(awsome feature of tracking, sending a message to screen or wipe your phone and lock it). Lets just say I waited for a month with no phone. I decide to give microsoft another chance. When the new Windows Phone 7.0 came out I was the first inline in Alaska. I played around with the different Windows Phones and fell in love with the Samsung Focus. Yeah there were features that that the other phones had that Windows Phone 7.0 didn't have, but I knew Microsoft would make it right. Boy let me tell you they sure did. This phone is so awsome that the other 2 guys had to copy its features while putting it down this year. All my friends that have an Iphone that have seen my phone in action and are... jealous! There is so much more I love about this phone but there is not enough space to do it in. WINDOWS PHONE YOU ROCK AGAIN!!! I also can't wait for the integration with the Xbox360. =)'
Pros: tools, menus, games, camera/video quality, speaker, Wi-Fi capable, durable, ease of use, good for texting
Cons: limited memory

I have used Blackberry, iPhone, and andriod. Windows Phone 7 has the most elegant OS, and ease of use of them all. The Samsung Focus S is so thin, light, and the screen is beutiful. I absolutely love this phone. The only Con is not as many apps as iOS or android. Most of the apps you need are in the app store, and they are adding more by the day. if you are on Xbox live this phone is a must have.
Pros: menus, games, camera/video quality, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting

Best phone experience I've seen

Great screen (size and quality are great), great OS, light weight though it seems durable, windows live integration is nice - contacts and calendar and files and photos are in the cloud and accessible to all of my windows devices. The windows live calendar is shareable with my family so we have it on our PC's and mobile devices. We replaced iPod touches and don't miss them at all except that wp7 doesn't yet have Words with Friends which is the only game app that I play. My son commented "you don't need a tablet, this is a tablet". Microsoft nailed the phone OS. It is very fast and fluid. Makes me wonder why they didn't/don't put the phone OS on a 7" tablet - it would be fantastic. I assume a very similar experience between wp7 and windows 8, however. The Samsung hardware is great. So light but strong. The form factor is great. Feels good in the hand, no problem in any pocket. It is a bit slippery I suppose. I am reading books on the Kindle app and enjoying the experience. This is really a phone for the future and for sure the now. Nokia may have some nice phones coming in 2012 that may surpass it but it is hard to image doing much better really, Samsung does it right-expandable memory is one thing for me that may be missed. It is nice to move a micro sd from one device to another with your content in tact. I liked them so well that we bought 3-that is an endorsement!
Pros: menus, Wi-Fi capable, ease of use, good for texting, camera/video quality, operating system, screen, windows live
Cons: limited memory

Great successor to an already amazing phone

Let me start by addressing something that a lot of reviewers on various websites have been saying about this phone: that it isn't made to be durable. Yes, it is made of plastic. Yes, it is very light weight. Yes, its battery cover is incredibly thin, but not flimsy - at least not in the negative sense of the word. This phones durability is well above that of others that are praised for their "durability." I'm sorry, but just because something is heavier or made of metal, does not mean it is necessarily more durable. Metal does not absorb impact, but instead transfers the shock onto softer, less resilient materials ie: glass. Sandwiching a slab of metal between two brittle pieces of glass creates, quite possibly, the least durable device ever conceived. Sorry, I don't mean to rant, but honestly, to criticize the durability of a device that has been proven to sustain more violent and frequent drops than its "more durable" competitors is completely nonsensical. This phone is about as durable as a 4.3 inch touchscreen device comes (aside from those specifically designed for high impact, of course.)
To address features, you have all of the necessities, plus: 4G, DLNA (if you don't know what that is, you should really check it out), Xbox live integration, etc., etc., The integration of features like facebook, twitter, zune, music recognition (like shazam, but better), makes the experience far more fluid and enjoyable as opposed to having to open up an app to do everything. Forget the whole "there's an app for that" garbage and realize "You don't need an app for that."
Ease of use is effortlessly summed up by referring one to just go into a store and try it. Everything is simple and easy to figure out - so long as you're not looking at it with a "this isn't an iPhone" bias.
The battery life is great! I used to have to start charging my phone around early to mid afternoon to ensure it didn't die on me, but this phones optimization and increased battery capacity allows me to use it all the way until I go to bed (with a few exceptions here and there.) And i use my phone a LOT!
The display is phenomenal. No, it is not a bright as the original focus, but the colors are far more realistic and rich. If you open your xbox live hub and view your avatar on both devices simultaneously, I've found that you can see the differences quite easily. The colors on the Focus S just appear more lively. Yes, there is a slight blue tint to all Super AMOLED screens, but the existence is negligible.
The design is pretty much the same as the Skyrocket. Of course, it has its own small variances, but side-by-side they look nearly identical. The "flimsy" back cover is only noticeable when you remove it, as when its on the device just feels like a different texture to the a single piece of material. It's slim and simple.
The bottom line is: This phone will only disappoint you if you're wanting it to. Otherwise, it will quickly become your favorite device.
There is one con: The loud speaker isn't the best. The original Focus still wears the crown as far as that feature is concerned.
Pros: tools, menus, games, camera/video quality, battery life, Wi-Fi capable, durable, ease of use, good for texting
