A wonderful gift

I like point and shoot cameras, and I was given the PowerShot ELPH 150 IS as a gift because my other one (not a Canon) was getting old and tired. On a glorious day, I went to a point where I could get a shot of the ocean side of the Golden Gate Bridge and took a picture. I was with my son who has all the lenses, different gadgets, takes him a while to get the perfect picture. He also took a picture - same view as mine. At home, later that day, we compared pictures, and my point and shoot Canon PowerShot was every bit as good in terms of color and sharpness as his. I am so pleased.

Amazing Photos

For a small camera, this gives great pictures, especially with autofocus. And the pictures don't take a long time to transfer from the camera to the computer!! If you're starting out in photography, I would recommend this product.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Overall this is an excellent camera. It has, in my opinion, only two shortfalls. The first is a lack of a glare-proof viewing screen. The second is there is no separate viewfinder to overcome the first deficiency.

I bought this less than a year ago, and the display screen does not work anymore. I am not ready to have a heart attack by trying to find out what it will cost to fix. Very disappointed.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Good overall- but

Camera very compact and easy to use. Nice range of adjustments and zoom features. Automatic functions work well in most situations. All focusing/composition must be done on view panel. No direct thru the lense sight viewing possible. So- taking pictures in bright light conditions (sun at your back)screen becomes completely black and focal image is completely wiped out. While this is frustrating- the little devil's auto focus often takes nice pictures even if held in the general direction of what you want to capture. Not wanted stuff can be edited out (cropped) at a later date. Bright screen works well in indoor low light situations. Great detail and very fine adjustments possible indoors (museums). Easy to carry, fun to use- worth the price!

Fuzzy, Blury pictures

I purchased a ELPH 150 IS Blue the end of November 2015. After taking a number of pictures inside, I found all the pictures were not in focus. I made arrangement to return it for repair. After discussions with Canon Customer Relations, the camera was replaced with another ELPH 150 IS. It has the same problem. It is possible to sharpen the pictures with photo editing software, but who wants to waste time doing that, when another brand camera would work better. My five year old Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W570 provided sharper pictures, but it is broken. I see the price is even less than what I paid in Canon Store.
