Great features and prefomance

This product has great features and performance. The only downside is the length of the speaker wires. They aren't long enough to go to all 4 corners of the room. You need to be a little creative to get surround sound.
Pros: Bright display, Lightweight
Cons: short speaker wires
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great value, powerful surround sound and crisp picture

HT-H4500 is a wonderful system, great value for money especially considering you get a blu-ray player as part of the pack. Just got mine today (this is my first home theatre system), and connecting everything up was easy (20 min) due to color-coding of all the cables to the speakers. Some reviewers were upset that the blu-ray player requires an ethernet connection (it has no wireless), but my wireless router is located right next to my 60-inch flat screen and it has ethernet ports, so that was really easy for me to hook up to the blu-ray player, and not a major drawback for me. I tested out the netflix and amazon streaming and both work really well as integrated features in the blu-ray menu, and the blu-ray player makes my DVDs look so crisp.
The most time consuming part of the set up was figuring out how to adjust the speaker position and audio settings to get loud, cinematic audio from all the speakers (this took a few hours of tinkering). The setup menu has an audio section where you can modulate the decibels for each speaker, and the distance (higher = louder) of each speaker. Also, there is a volume control on the remote just under the power button which, when you crank it up, makes the sound truly cinematic.
Time will tell with regards to durability, but so far (day 1) so good!

My husband loves old westerns which I find very boring. The sound now makes them exciting to watch. since we are getting older the sound system makes it easier to hear everything too.
Pros: Inexpensive, Durable

So Far So Good

Set-up:
1. I didn't want to replace my existing speakers, so since this system has specific speaker connectors, I had to splice them onto my existing wires. It sounds great with my existing speakers, though.
2. GOOD NEWS for internet networking! I was able to patch the ethernet into my second ethernet port on my DVR - no painful network cord running.
3. Super easy to connect and stream from my phone or laptop.
4. Be sure to use the optical cord option for connecting a component (my DVR) instead of the typical auxiliary audio cord (red & white connectors), otherwise you won't get full surround.
5. Not sure why the DSP/EQ button doesn't work - I have a Samsung TV, but it's not 'smart', so that may be the issue.
Functionality and quality:
1. The video streaming apps run flawlessly. Love it!
2. Display on the unit itself is dim, it’s kind of an issue if you’re across the room.
3. The unit is a nice style and slim. It feels a bit fragile though - maybe because it's so lightweight.
4. The interface is easy to use. HOWEVER, It’s not initially intuitive where to change the input from blu-ray/home apps to an external component (my DVR) though. Maybe it should be labeled ‘source’, ‘component’, or something similar rather than ‘function’. Function doesn’t obviously correlate.
5. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT: Cannot surf the net or access cloud storage. With all the streaming and networking capabilities, you'd think this was an easy/obvious include.
Overall I'm happy with my new system!
Pros: Inexpensive, sounds good
Cons: dim front panel display, no internet surfing access

Really impressed with the connectivity between the components. The TV talks to the home theater system.

Mixed feelings

While I bought this system to replace my older Samsung 5-DVD home theater system, there are several things which I do not like about it. The first is there are no headphone jacks. As someone who likes to watch TV or play video games at all hours of the night, this stinks. There is a blue tooth feature but unlike cell phones which do a search for nearby blue tooth devices, this system does not have that.
Another thing - connecting to the internet. There is no facility for linking into a wireless network. It's like the people who designed this system are living in the past when wireless didn't exist. Thank God I have a smart TV.
On the whole the system has excellent sound, but it lacks features that are important to me. If I had to do it all over again, I would have bought something else.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: Did not meet expectations

Easy to set up and use. I especially like the Menu selection that appears on startup. Eliminates the browsing functions that was used on older units.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight
