We were replacing an older vent hood, so installation was a breeze. Simply removed the old unit and install the new one. Ours does not vent to the outside, but it is very effective for removing steam from the the stove top area. It automatically turns on if temperature in the hood reaches a set temperature ... A nice feature. The variable speed of the fan means you can adjust to accommodate your needs and it doesn't sound like a jet engine starting up. Also enjoy the 3 brightness settings for the lights built into the hood. We have been very pleased and would recommend to anyone.
