Worst purchase ever

Wastes several MINUTES slow spinning, stopping, slow spinning, just to determine load size. Does the same thing when spinning during cycles. SLOW spinning, then a little faster, then slower, then a bit faster....slower...faster...slow...slower....done. It's a huge time waster on useless motions, sensing. Not to mention a waste of energy plus, the drain pump runs CONTINUOUSLY during spin. Big pet peev and another energy waster. Not to mention needless use/wear on pump.
Even though machine is PERFECTLY balanced with a level, even when empty, the tub spins off balance, sways and rocks the whole machine. (yes, shipping bolts out) So that doesn't help with the machine trying to balance itself when spinning a load. (had this same model for a couple of weeks that arrived with dent, and did the same thing.) Machine reset itself 9 times on the final spin. When it would finally spin, and be stable, it would STOP, and then re-spin the clothes. It did this 9 times before it actually did a spin. Added 35 minutes trying to spin, to what should have been a 37 min cycle. Made no sense whatsoever since the machine was spinning fine to begin with.
The 'new' machine doesn't use the recirc sprayer like the other machine did to help wet clothes. Has to sprayer there, just has never come on yet.
And yes, I'm a very seasoned (30+ years) front load washer user so I know them well. This machine uses so little water, that at the end of the wash portion of the cycle, half the clothes/towels are still dry and I do small loads, since it's only me. 5 or 6 t-shirts, a couple of shorts, 6 or so pairs of boxers and that's a regular load. A towel load is 8 wash clothes, 8 hand towels and maybe two or three bath towels and a few dish towels. You can't wash much more than that and even those are half dry.
VERY, VERY disappointed with GE. First and last time to every buy this brand again.
I'd give it minus 5 stars if I could.

Another bearing failure
on April 17, 2020

Tub bearing failed after 4 years which in turn took out the front balance ring. Replaced bearings and ring and within two weeks balance ring failed again coating the inside of the washer with oil. The cost of replacement parts far exceeds the value of the machine. The quality of this product is the poorest I have ever seen and it will be the last GE I ever own.

Balance problems...
on October 27, 2015

I have had this washer for a couple of years now, and I can't wait until it dies so I can get a new one... It seems to get out of balance ALL THE TIME. And when it's out of balance, it bangs and clangs like a freight train and moves across the floor, shoving the dryer out of the way. I have NEVER had a washing machine that gets of out balance on spin cycle so easily. I now permanently keep some towels and pillows on top of the washer to re-balance the loads whenever necessary. And it was my bad for not checking first, but this machine does NOT have a Spin Only cycle, so you cannot drain and spin a load of soggy items. I will never again buy a washer that doesn't have a Spin Only cycle.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I just got a new GE washer last month after my other one finally called it quit. This washer has so many new and exciting features I love washing clothes again! My clothes are so much cleaner looking and brighter colors seem to stay like new. I should have gotten this sooner. It a little pricey but well worth every penny.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My first high-end washer

I am so glad a bought this washer! It has a built-in pedestal which makes it less expensive than other front load sets with similar features. Also this makes it easier to install. My clothes come out so fresh and clean. They smell so wonderful and the colors seem brighter than before. It does a great job removing stains. I wash my bedding on allergen setting which has really helped my allergies. The washer easily handles big comforters. Even the "I'm done" signal is a cheery little tune instead of an annoying buzzer.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Don't love that it quit working after 4 months!!!

I love the height and the size of the basket. However, after four short months the two main power boards went out and we are having to wait TWO weeks to get replacement parts! This is one of GE's top selling models. Parts should be available!!!!

I have streaks down the front of the machine, the soap and softener dispensers do not empty (they are always full of water), and my Whites have not been the same since I bought this new machine...Truly wish I had my old one back.

Poor Performance

Only 1 of about 14 loads was satisfactory. That was a Speed Wash with 8 towels that took the expected 34 minutes. This washer holds about 18 towels loosely packed but an hour and 8 minute normal wash takes over two hours because this washer just can't handle that size load dispite its 4.8 cubic foot capacity. It took about an hour and 49 minutes on Delicate to wash 5 knit shirts. It washes okay and appears to use very little water but it continuously spins at low speed as it's draining yet hardly any water is drained by the pump during this spinning. It does this for about an hour or more and suddenly picks up speed in the final 5 minutes to the smoothest spin. Otherwise it spins slowly, stops, resets to a higher remaining time, again spins slowly and repeats the same routine over and over. Sometimes the final spin does not remove water as well as other times most likely because it is defaulting to a lower speed because it cant balance the load although the load looks balanced. It also sometimes leaves the fabric softener dispenser filled to the top with water.
If you wash a small to medium sized load using hot water it uses so little that the hot water line leading to the washer is not sufficiently cleared of room temperature water to actually allow hot water to enter the washer! According to the owners manual this machine uses cold water rinses only. I washed a large load on hot and the garments were warm when I removed them. I suspect not enough cold water rinsed them as it's used so sparingly. A cold water presoak was hot. One presoak simply wet the clothes and tossed them while another actually filled with a few inches of water and soaked them.
I've owned a front loader for ten years and have a good understanding of what to expect regarding wash time and the washer's need to pause to rebalance loads so I expected long wash times. I'm impressed with some of the technology used with this machine (it thoroughly saturates the clothes by recirculating the minimal amount of water in the tub and has the smoothest final spin (when it works) I've ever seen) although I think the resulting water savings comes at the expense of performance. I was outrageously impressed with that one 34 minute speed wash. Nevertheless, this washer just takes too long to wash most loads and in general results are unpredictable.
The matching gas dryer, by the way, is excellent.
