Beautiful appearance with lots of bells & whistles. I pray the existing leak around the exterior opening of the door doesn't get worse over time. I purchased GE Products because they are well known, quality products over the years. I gave an average rating in performance because water leaks around the exterior door. I see the water stains below the door opening. I called the store manager who promised to send technician to inspect but as of today --- "no show".

I have had the washer since June 1st. It does not get clothes clean. I have had two service guys try to fix it and now they say it is working as designed. I know it is suppose to use less water, but the clothes are not even all the way wet.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Poor Performance

Only 1 of about 14 loads was satisfactory. That was a Speed Wash with 8 towels that took the expected 34 minutes. This washer holds about 18 towels loosely packed but an hour and 8 minute normal wash takes over two hours because this washer just can't handle that size load dispite its 4.8 cubic foot capacity. It took about an hour and 49 minutes on Delicate to wash 5 knit shirts. It washes okay and appears to use very little water but it continuously spins at low speed as it's draining yet hardly any water is drained by the pump during this spinning. It does this for about an hour or more and suddenly picks up speed in the final 5 minutes to the smoothest spin. Otherwise it spins slowly, stops, resets to a higher remaining time, again spins slowly and repeats the same routine over and over. Sometimes the final spin does not remove water as well as other times most likely because it is defaulting to a lower speed because it cant balance the load although the load looks balanced. It also sometimes leaves the fabric softener dispenser filled to the top with water.
If you wash a small to medium sized load using hot water it uses so little that the hot water line leading to the washer is not sufficiently cleared of room temperature water to actually allow hot water to enter the washer! According to the owners manual this machine uses cold water rinses only. I washed a large load on hot and the garments were warm when I removed them. I suspect not enough cold water rinsed them as it's used so sparingly. A cold water presoak was hot. One presoak simply wet the clothes and tossed them while another actually filled with a few inches of water and soaked them.
I've owned a front loader for ten years and have a good understanding of what to expect regarding wash time and the washer's need to pause to rebalance loads so I expected long wash times. I'm impressed with some of the technology used with this machine (it thoroughly saturates the clothes by recirculating the minimal amount of water in the tub and has the smoothest final spin (when it works) I've ever seen) although I think the resulting water savings comes at the expense of performance. I was outrageously impressed with that one 34 minute speed wash. Nevertheless, this washer just takes too long to wash most loads and in general results are unpredictable.
The matching gas dryer, by the way, is excellent.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I realize now that I have been missing out on all the new technology that my old washer was missing. It will take awhile to use all of the possibilities but I am really excited.

Works great now that it is fixed....

I bought this several weeks ago and after it was installed, did 3 loads of wash with it. Worked fine except that the detergent dispenser was full after each completed cycle. Tried to use it two days later and it wouldn't power on. The electric panel blew out. Went one week without a washer. Am still waiting on part to fix the dispenser. For the amount of money I spent, I am very disappointed I had this amount of trouble from the start.

Love my new washer!

Our old washer crashed, we decided to go with the GE front loader. Very easy to use with many new functions. By the time the cycles are complete, the clothes are almost dry!!! I love being able to clean out the filter of any items that may have been washed, my old washer did not have any functions like this washer. Well worth the money spent!

Perfection... An amazing washer!

Everything is great about this washer - the huge capacity, height, looks, controls with the ability to customize the settings and more. The clothes are so very clean and are damp dry so they spend very little time in the dryer - a giant energy saver. Uses very little water in comparison to others we have had. Very, very quiet and no vibration.I cannot say enough good things about this magnificent machine. We made the right choice for sure.
