Disappointment

I received this printer for Christmas and didn't even open the box until February it's July and it's been broken for two weeks. Support code 5100. Tried every youtube video possible and nothing. Very disappointed in this product and the lack of available resources to fix such a common code.

Terrible

I'm no novice but this printer isn't worth the $30 I saved by not buying a more expensive model. First off connecting via wi-fi is a major pain if your router doesn't have a WPS button (which most routers don't unless you upgrade every year. Mine is 5 years old). And if you can't get it connected via wi-fi, there is no USB cable included.
Besides that the scanner is terrible. I checked online and many people have the same complaint. A solid green square, for example, is all mottled and blotchy, not solid. Since scanning is my #1 need over printing or faxing, that makes this purchase a major fail. Bringing it back today.
Pros: durable
Cons: Slow Print Speed, Large Footprint, Difficult Setup, poor scan quality, noisy as heck, instruction sheet more concerned with being green, ...than being helpful

Just bought the Pixma MX472. It had a good price, was Consumer Reports recommended and is remarkably straight forward. It set up real simple. My router and the printer got to know each other very quickly and that is about all that had to be done. Push 1 button on the router and one on the printer and it worked. Apple print too. Very nice to press print in the living room and hear the printer fire up in the back room. nice!

Instruction box

The set-up instruction box on the front of this printer cannot be read in normal light. One needs a flashlight to be able to read it and even with the flashlight , it is very difficult to see what you are doing. Othrwise the printer works quite well.

Works well for me

I've had my printer for over 2 year now, I've had to replace my black ink 4 times since then and my color maybe 2 times going on 3 really soon. While I do agree with some that the ink itself is expensive what toner isn't. I feel I get great quality printing when the ink is fresh, I've only noticed quality not being optimal towards the very end. The black or color doesn't look as crisp but it still very readable. When I first took it out of the box I did struggle to connect it to my home WiFi, but I didn't spend days like others have complained. I even moved a few times and had to reconnect my WiFi, but after that first mishap with WiFi I didn't have any issue connecting it. I've linked the printer to various laptops and no issue either with being able to find my printer. I haven't really used this printer for printing photos, I have a Canon Pro100 for that. I use this exclusively for office printing and the occasional crafting job. I love my printer, the only reason I gave it a 4 stars was due to the WiFi instructions not being clear I mean I eventually got it set up but I did have a few hours of frustration and YouTube research to figure it out.

Getting a bad Rap

I haven't tried the fax so I can't give it a 5, although I do give everything else a 5. I bought this canon (600) mx472 about 7 years ago. I heard so many horror reports about Canon, but I already owned a Canon 300 and I had no trouble with it either. I bought an Hp printer, a Brothers, and an Epson, but I returned all of them and I'm sure glad I did. I went back to old faithful and bought a Canon. There were several reviews about start-up noise, slow printing, and terrible on the ink. Well I can say I've had none of these problems. The noise is no more than any of the other printer, and in most cases it was even quieter.. I was more concerned about the ink running out to quick. This ink lasted so long, I thought it was all going to drop out at the same time. It didn't and I can say, this is the best printer I have owned. I would recommend this computer to to anyone.

Worst Purchase Ever

This printer will not work. I had to buy an extra cable just to sync it to my computer even though it is supposed to be a 'wifi' printer. Well, it also does not come with an Apple version of the software. It won't print from my Iphone like it says, either. This computer basically is just a copy machine.
