When a product requires a total of more than 48 hours to achieve wireless installation and printer overall functionality, a question beacons: shouldn't Canon compensate me all of the waisted time? Dear Canon, this is the last printer I buy from you!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Hard to setup with out a dedicated phone line. I'm trying to setup using the line I share with home phone. I have a cable internet based phone service and all of the technical information with printer and information online has not worked for me to set it up properly.

Initial Set-Up With A Mac Very Frustrating

Just purchased this product. Many wasted hours trying to set-up with a Mac Computer. No instructions nor a CD Rom for setting up with a Mac. Also no help available at all on Canon website to set up with a Mac.Finally called Canon Tech support. It took almost 45 minutes to slowly go thru the setup with a very knowledgeable and patient tech support person.. I'm sure the printer and its features will work well. But the total lack of info on how to initially set it up with a Mac would definitely be a reason why I would not buy another Canon printer. The tech rep was very understanding, but was at a loss as to why Canon was so negligent in providing proper materials or instructions to set it up with a Mac. Canon - you can do better.

Model Mx470: My previous PIXMA Cannon printer had "print selection" (removed on this generation product) , "auto duplex printing" (removed on this generation product) , easy to use operator panel (not this product), and quick/easy page magnification/reduction (not this product). Cannon had a good product..

Set up is absolutely horrible with this printer. I have had several printers over the years, all had quite easy set-ups compared to this. Almost need to be a computer tech to make it work with a MAC

I bought this printer about 2 years ago and have been steadily using it since then. It is a great multi function printer and is fairly user friendly. It copies well, prints well, nice fax features and scans great. Still is as good as new. Product is what any average household would need and have. It does everything and does it well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very good but...

The printer offers a lot of capability at a low price. However - and I've installed a LOT of printers over many years, including WiFi enabled ones... the instructions are the worst I've ever seen. Things that should be addressed clearly are obscured. For instance the term "access point" or something to that effect, should have been followed by "(your router or similar device"). The input window instructions are sometimes non-sequiters The distinction between WEF setup and conventional WEP entry are obscured and overlapping. All they needed to do was have someone unfamiliar with the device try it out and find what their questions are. Last, the WiFi reception is quite weak. All other WiFi devices work throughout my house but this printer, according to tech support needs to be in the same room or only one interior wall away. But those aren't deal-breakers, and once you're up and running it is a very good device.

Hate mx470 series. Worst printer ever

I like canon products and stick with the canon printers. I was starting my own business 2 months ago and was excited to buy this expensive new MX470 series printer/fax/copier. i have to say, dealing with this printet is the most stressful part of my job. When it even works, it is slow, jams every other use, sucks in too many papers at once, snd sucks back in and ruins papers if you dont remove it IMMEDIATLY off the printer. Now I am stuck with it. I Hate it.
