Could be Better

I have another Holmes product and I am a bit disappointed with this one. It's the noise. It is not quiet. My other Holmes machine is.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Does the job, like the speed settings, and the prefilter is a great feature since we have a shedding dog and dusty home. My daughter's allergies and respiratory problems are so much better than just vacuuming several times a week! Have been keeping it on 1 nonstop in the living room where the dog sleeps with great results! Only cons are it is a bit loud thought I don't have others to compare it to, and it did not come with a manual or instructions of any kind.

Great for Removing Dust

I've had the Holmes HAP716-U for over 2 years. I purchased it to help control the dust in my home. I live in a 100+ year-old home in an agricultural area in the Central Plains of Oklahoma. (Read: massive amounts of RED dust.) I have lung disease, and as it has worsened, so has my sensitivity to dust. This air purifier helps by removing a lot of dust. Cleaning the washable filter frequently helps keeping it working well, I believe. I also have another Holmes HEPA air filter in my bedroom.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Bought this for a bedroom and it seems to do a good job keeping the air free of odors and allergy-causing particles. It does emit audible sounds on levels 2 and 3, but we quickly got used to the sound and it's now just white noise.

I bought my tower about 3 yrs ago and love it. I change the filters in the spring and again in the fall. We've had fewer problems since. It does make noise and it is a little bit of a trick to get the filters in and out but I love this unit. We live in an allergy capital.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this as a replacement for a similar product. It lasted so long, I had to have another. I have birds and they create their own dust with their dander. I have this placed beside my the cage of my "worst offender", a cockatoo. I made sure the air that comes out blows away from the bird. When he gets to flapping his wings, you can see the dander go right into the back of the air purifier. The first filter doesn't look like much but it does a great job. Have had this purifier a month or so now and the secondary filters show no sign of use at all. I vacuum the first filter once a week and it does great. I cannot speak for the ionizer part of the machine, as you can't run that around birds, it does something to their lungs - online articles told me this, no actual proof. The only con of this product is that is very noisy, but running on "1" is a very tolerable level. Also the delivery was in about 2 days, can't really beat that.

Quiet?? Not even close! Long lasting...nope!!

I got one of these in 2011 to help with my musty/moldy ( couldnt control that part apartment) hoping to make things smell somewhat better and livable! When it showed up the box had a hole in it and it was quite noisy thinking maybe something had gotten damaged..I wrote to complain of this and they sent me out another one free but..this one after only like 5 months same thing noisy just like the first one and it did not have any obvious delivery issues or holes in box. After a year this thing seems to have issues with the motor or the fan belt or something as it sounds like something is catching on something inside which you can't see at all and the motor seems like it struggles at times even though the filters are no where near ready to replace. Very disappointed in the quality and lack of long lasting of this air purifier otherwise it looks nice and all!
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
