I bought 4 of these about a month ago. When the product arrived, 3 of them had to be taken apart and put back together. 2 were missing screws and 2 the fan was pushed so far back against the back of the product and was making a horrible sound We spent about 4 hours of trying to reclaim the parts from the box and putting them back together. I wish we would have spent our money elsewhere, it was a very disappointing buy, I do not believe I would ever buy this product again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Best Air Purifier, but Replaces a Better Purifier

This (HAP-759) is the best currently-available air purifier that I have found. Its predecessor (Holmes HAP-756) was better: the (now obsolete) HAP-756 had the same great airflow and filtration, but much less noise. The HAP-756 was almost noiseless at speeds 1, 2 and 3 (of 4). The HAP-759 is noisy at speeds 2 and 3 (of 3). I have several of both types (HAP-756 and HAP-759) in my home. The old HAP-756 at speed 3 (of 4) moves a similar amount of air as the new HAP-759 at speed 2 (of 3), but the HAP-756 is almost noiseless at that speed, and the HAP-759 is noisy. I wish that Holmes could reintroduce the HAP-756; but I'm gladly buying several new HAP-759s: among currently-available air purifiers, the reliability, ease of filter replacement, and most importantly: air purification of the HAP-759, are incomparable. A number of these distributed around my house, running at speed 1 or 2, keep the house dust free and allergy free; and have for many years minimized chronic respiratory issues.
I would recommend this to a friend!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is the 2nd one we bought, we like it so much. Sleep much better and the one in the family room cuts down on the dust and smoke smell from the fireplace. Feels like our whole environment is healthier

I just got this and the air is amazing! I needed relief after dusting my new place and getting really sick from it. Thanks for helping me supply adequate oxygen to my unborn baby by making an amazing product. Allergy induced asthma sufferers need this!

This unit replaced a similar Holmes true HEPA three cartridge filter unit; the differences appear to be cosmetic in terms of functionality (different styling to the air "grates", etc.). Because parts are not available and the motor bearings in the predecessor unit were making noise, we purchased this unit. On the high settings, it is far more noisier than the predecessor. Otherwise, it seems more or less identical, presumably with the same motor bearings designed to fail after a certain number of years of continuous service. The "recommendation" below is based upon price and availability for a true HEPA filter; there is no competitor product that is available at this price point with filters readily available. The true HEPA units with washable (not discard) filters do not seem to be available.
