Easy Install, Setup, and Great Quality

This was the easiest peripheral I have ever installed. one dual HDMI cable and one dual CAT 5 for my LAN and it jumped to like a champ. Great on-line software upgrade feature. Picture quality is OUTSTANDING. I'm not a video resolution expert, so details in the instructions regarding alternate I/O protocols and media was a bit overwhelming at first; but really required only minimal input on my end. So far, it's great!
Pros: Bright display, Realistic color, Lightweight, multi media

Great design and value but falls short in performance

I purchased this player a few months ago. Recently it has stopped playing DVDs, it pauses every few seconds and cannot get through a dvd. It is very disappointing and I am hoping to resolve the issue with Samsung support.
Netflix and other applications work just fine. Streaming is actually done very well. Picture and sound quality are impressive. I've read of many other brands freezing and shutting down if you leave a streaming service idle for too long, but I've left Netflix movies paused for long periods without any issues.
Overall, when purchasing, the design and value were what I appreciated. The small form factor and light weight was very nice, and the piano black finish blended well with most modern tv, sound bar/audio components. The fact that it didn't have WiFi did not bother me. I planned to have it physically hooked into Ethernet anyways.
When the unit could play DVDs, the quality was excellent. Blu ray worked well and non-blu ray DVDs were up-scaled nicely. Everything was seamless until it suddenly stopped playing DVDs.
I can't recommend this player in its current state, but it was nice while it lasted (three months).
My recommendation would be that if you do decide to purchase the BD-H5100, see if there is a replacement plan available at your chosen retailer so if you have issues you can simply swap it for a new one.
Pros: Inexpensive, Lightweight, netflix streaming works well
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, dvd playback malfunctions
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Cheap and effective

A perfectly capable Blu-Ray player… which is all I use it for. All other features—built in Netflix, YouTube, etc.—have a horrible interface and are painfully slow over my very fast network. The invisible touch buttons on the top are a strange non-feature, since you can't really see what you're touching—did I just hit pause or turn the unit off? Also, it's surprisingly noisy, with a mechanical hiss and whirr that has me looking for an enclosed cabinet to hide it in.
Pros: Inexpensive
Cons: awkward touch control, noisy

Instructions that came with this player were easy to read and understand. The additional instructions for this player I was able to download and they proved to be very helpful ( Set-up/service manual). I would highly recommend this product to my family and friends.

Something simple to use.

I wanted a BR Player that was easy to install, and use. This model fits my requirements to a T. Upgrading the firmware program looks to be as simple as can be expected of the technology. So far no poblems. I would recommend this to just about anybody.
