THIS MACHINE IS MUCH NOISIER THAN MY OLD WASHER. IN AN EFFORT TO BE "MORE EFFICIENT AND SAFER", FOR SOME REASON THIS MACHINE HAS A LOCKING LID AND IF FOR SOME REASON YOU FORGET TO SHUT THE LID, THE WATER STARTS TO DRAIN AND THIS CYCLE CAN'T BE STOPPED SO YOU LOSE ALL THE WATER AND SOAP. THIS ALSO PREVENTS YOU FROM SOAKING CERTAIN ITEMS BEFORE YOU WASH THEM. A MAN MUST HAVE DESIGNED THIS WITHOUT GETTING INPUT FROM THE PEOPLE WHO ACTUALLY DO THE LAUNDRY.

Not worth the time or money

I hate this machine it uses to much water, takes to long to finish, it just keeps filling up with water and if stop it to add a garment that you forgot then all the water runs out the you will have to start over again. And sometimes it does not spin completely and your clothes are very wet. Will never buy another Amana appliance again!

After owning this for 3 weeks I needed a service call because it wouldn't spin the water out after the wash cycle, then wouldn't transition to the rinse cycle.
The repair man reset it and then ordered a part for it. After a month, the part came in, was replaced, and the machine worked properly for one load. Another service call was requested and I'm waiting to see if the machine works yet.
I may have gotten a lemon. When it did work, it cleaned the clothes well, however.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I love the large capacity drum and how well the clothes are spun out. My dryer takes less time because of how much moisture has been taken out of the clean clothes.

My old washing machine went to machine heaven. I had to have another one, but didn't have a ton of money. I bought the Amana because of price, and name reputation. This machine is so quiet, at first I thought it wasn't working. This is great, as my washer is in the kitchen. Uses less water but still gets clothes clean. I'm glad I bought my Amana washing machine.

I bought this about 2 months ago and have mixed feeling. Most of the time it works fine. I noticed that when I have to interrupt a cycle, it doesn't seem to know where it left off and will restart by filling the machine again, even though I know it might have been in the final spin cycle. I try very hard not to have to add anything to a load. However, if the cycle is not interrupted, I am pleased with the wash load.
