Troubles with Turbo Tax
on April 11, 2012
Posted by: CWROOT
I was live with a chat from India because I could not get my purchased TurboTax CD to load. After at least 3 hours, the guy finally gave up and authorized a free downloaded version. Apparently, the main problem was installing Windows Net4. This new version takes longer to load each time, and seems to be more confusing about how to get around. Overall, I was not impressed and will consider other options next year.

problems with head of household

For the first time in many years I am not happy with Turbotax. I need to file separate filing status for federal and Calif. and TT could not easily and efficiently handle this situation. There is a work around but I had to figure it out myself. Very, very, disappointing.

Another year with Turbo Tax
on May 18, 2012

Anything dealing with the tax codes is bound to be confusing. There is too much information and situations IN the tax code. I had to re re read a couple sections to get the exact meaning of the particular area. I was dealing with a filed extension. BUT, I have been using Turbo Tax for many years, even wasted money checking it against H&R Block (same exact results) and it has come through all the time. The basic is good enough for me, but I always use the deluxe as it seems more complete. I started this BEFORE it was called Turbo Tax.

Some problems
on August 14, 2012

On Step-by-Step process, if one switches to another area, it's required to go through all the preliminary questions to get back to the question one wants. For instance, for Rental Property, it's necessary to wade through all the questions about ownership, business use, etc every time, in order to get back to section on actual expenses & income (rents, utilities, repairs, etc). Very time consuming if one uses TT every year & needs to move around through various sections but still use Step-by-step. Need way to switch from a certain line on Forms to relevant quesiton on Step/Step. Also, the "Find" search at top right of screen did not work most of the time. Also, need direct link to IRS publications or Forms that will bring up that actual form and its IRS instructions.

This was my first time I used Turbo Tax software. The only problem I encountered was that the updates to get the required filing forms had to be tried 3 times before they were finally available for download. I saved the tax prepares fees and received more money back than what I was expecting. I would reccommend Turbo Tax for all my friends. Thank you. Antonio Sueiras

I like the improvements- more intuitive. but i would like to be able to see summary of each section directly from start menu and be reminded of empty lines later on
