I spent $40.00 for the CD from Office Depot. Then in order to file a state return, I had to spend another $43.00 plus $30.00 to e-file. Normally state filing is included with the cost of the federal filing. Why the change?

Each year the cd program has been a little different. This was one of the easiest years ever to follow the step by step instructions. Nothing confusing.

1. This is not the place for VISA debit card advertising.
2. I invest in bonds. I adjusted my interest earnings to reflect "accrued interest" which I paid on bond purchases. All was well until I checked to see if the amount which I had entered actually made it to Schedule B, Part 1. It hadn't. Instead, there was another number which I did not recognize. So, just for fun I tried another number, and I got another wierd number on Schedule B. I did this repeatedly, and never got the number which I entered as an adjustment. Finally, I gave up and manually edited the tax return. I think that you have a programming problem.
3. Under "personal information" I entered my phone number so that the IRS could call me. It didn't appear on the 1040. So I , again, manually edited the 1040. One would think that if you asked me for my phone number, you would enter it on the 1040, right? No, not the case.

After looking through the CD with Linux, it behaved in WIN 7. And once I became familiar with TurboTax, it was certainly better than trying to follow the IRS directions. Not to mention the forty-five cents postage saved.
