Turbo Tax Review

Turbo Tax is a detailed, simple, quick and easy program to calculate and file your taxes. It takes minimal effort on your part to collect documents and then enter the information as Turbo Tax steps you through the process. I would not do mt taxes any other way.
I have one complaint and that is it costs extra to process and file your state taxes this year. This was included in the past. I could accept a nominal fee but the fee is $40 this year and that's too much.

Over all the software performed as advertised. I have used TurboTax for the last 10 years and prefer it to other programs.
However, I do have things I do not like and one serious calculation problem.
The things I do not like is the questions informing you of their costly product helps which go through these qustions everytime you use the software, There should be a way to say no and it not keep asking.
The more serious problem is with line 63 when it ask for payments made on estimated taxes and then refuses to accept the answer. As of Feberuary 23rd they promise to have a fix. However I had to file my taxes without the estimated tax payment taken into account. this means an amended return or figuring out what to do.
Importantly Turbotax did not flag this area and tell you that a fix would be coming. You should not have to go to the internet to find solutions to their problems they need to be upfront and more quickly respond to problems

Could be improved slightly

Need more detail, explanations, in specific areas, not just telling which publications IRS has on the subject, e.g., working while collecting Social Security. It would have been helpful if it were spelled out exactly how much is allowed and a box to check if you had changed your situation from working full time and working part time and starting drawing Social Secuirty. I found no such box. Otherwise very good software, very good product for the price, I used the Basic version.

No address for mailing

In the past (when I've owed money) there was always a cover letter along w/where to mail the return, etc.
This year when I actually get a refund there was NO cover letter at all, therefore no information on where to mail the return.
ADDITIONALLY, when I printed out the return, it also printed out the pages needed if you wanted to pay your taxes in INSTALLMENTS. That didn't make sense at all since I was getting a refund.
