Saved my bacon

I have used Turbotax for quite a few years. I have never run into a situation when entering my data that the system was not set up to accept.
It is easy to install, and Turbotax took into account the fact that a computer crash could occur in the middle of the process. That happened to me this year (nothing to do with Turbotax) and I was able to reinstall the software on another computer and pick up right back where I was when the crash happened.

Terrible

I am using a new (within 1 year) computer with Windows XP. During the time trying to file using Turbo Tax my computer crashed 4 times and each time had to restore existing info from wherever the last save command was.
Beyond annoying since it took 2 hours where it should have been no longer than 30 minutes.

WHY Pay twice?

I had a great experience, so great I opted to pay the $39.95 fee to transfer all my info to do my state tax (California) after going through the ca tax forms I had to pay another 19.95 to file?
It was my understanding I was paying $39.95 to transfer my info over and file it electronically.
come on, you make it so easy to do, why charge me twice? it was a bit silly to have to go through and enter c.card info twice, once to transfer my info to CA state tax format then another $20 to file it. why not make it really easy? one price to transfer and file?

Not Painless

Error Check said everything was fine, yet when I tried to print, it said I had errors. Went back to Error Check and it said everything was still good, so I tried to print it again, got the same message. I printed it anyway. Hope it's nothing.

I don't know if I missed it, but I did not want to go through all of the itemized deductions when I don't itemize. If you take the standard deduction is there a way to just take this option? I could do without Maybe you should update the a more expensive verson of the program. I am retired at this time so my return is a lot simpler than in the past. Just interest and retirement income.Other than that I think the program is very good.

Used turbo tax basic. Worked well overall. Especially pleased the way it prompted me through the sale of home entries. Had difficulty printing a review copy before I was ready to file. The print a review copy tab didn't work for me...just gave me some procedures dependant on how I got the software. Even on the print center tab, it was a little tricky getting it to print with a simple click. Much easier after I filed. Expect to use TurboTax again next year.

It seems to take longer to load and start the program than in previous years.... especially when having to do the updates.
