Kinda Cheap

i bought the basic one, which didn't cost much, but it didn't offer any state return at all, which i thought was a bit cheap. there is an option to upgrade and do one state - not e-filing - for 40 more dollars.
cheap. it's just kinda cheap.

2011 TurboTax review

I have used TurboTax for at least 10 years; maybe longer. Wouldn't think of doing it any other way. I itemize deductions and maintain a spreadsheet where I list medical, pharmacy, contributions, mileages, etc during the year. If I keep this spreadsheet up to date, it is easy to transfer the dollar amounts into TurboTax. I especially appreciate the ability to import tax data from banks and financial institutions.
My taxes are complex enough that it would probably cost me several hundred dollars to have a professional do them. I keep good records, mostly as .PDF files and I have no fear of being audited.
Every year I hone the process a bit better.

For some reason it took 4 sessions or more for the software to realize I was not starting a new return.
I had to go though all the intro stuff to get back where I left off.

I do like how going through the steps helps me organize all the paper work needed for input.

Going in a straight line from start to finish was very straightforward.. Only when I had to backtrack was there any difficulty. And compared to some previous years the difficulty was minimal.

I've used TurboTax every year for the past 10 years and plan to continue using it. It's easy to use and reliable. I like the way TurboTax walks me through the process without my having to possess any advanced knowledge about taxes. It's a winner.
