I love using Turbo Tax. Only gripe I have is that you charge more for automatic renewal than I can purchase new year's Turbo Tax for at local stores. You wanted to charge me $59.95 directly but I bought 2011 software for $29.95 locally. Would be helpful if you would address that issue.

Import From Fidelity

Importing from Fidelity 1099B made a mess although correct gain or loss resulted; input to Form 8949 was all screwed up. Had lots of option transactions that needed to be reported on Form 8949 Short Term Box C
checked. Never imported correctly. When I adjusted import individually Turbo tax never allowed me the input as "Other" -"Options" thus not being able to have "Expired" rather than "0" show in cost basis for column "c". IRS instructions SPECIFIED "Expired". My end solution was to just add a footnote to FORM 8949 Part 1, BOX C.

Attention to Detail/Helpful Hints

Another year of scary taxes, another year of Turbo Tax riding to the rescue. What really impressed me this year was the fact you guys raised a cautionary question because you were aware that some confusion existed with a certain bank in Texas over which routing number to use when we requested a direct deposit for our refund. It's the little things like that which demonstrates your attention to detail. We'll definitely be back to get your help again next year.

love turbotax!

I've been using turbo tax for years and it just keeps getting better. It is easy to use and it asks all the right questions to ensure I don't forget anything.
Last year, I made the mistake of trying out H&R Block's software - it was not clear enough and left me wondering if I was interpreting the tax issues correctly. I ended up having to go into an H&R block store, pay $200+ dollars, go back when I found another important tax paper (which I would have known to look for in the first place if the H&R block CPA had asked me the key questions Turbo Tax does, which he did not).
This year I returned to using Turbo Tax and I feel 100% comfortable that I didn't miss anything and that my return is correct.

Not As Smooth A Process As In Past Years

Totally inadequate and frustrating where K-1s are concerned. K-1 questions and process were very confusing and frustrating and I eventually had to go to a retired H&R Block preparer to get the K-1s done. Even then additional problems related to the K-1s popped up during the final reviews. I will have K-1s going forward, so after 18 years of Turbo Tax I may be switching to Tax Cut as it appears to be better able to address K-1s.
