did not feel it was necessary to enter all the detail for charitable contributions (address, date of each gift). also didn't ask me the anomoloies: paid taxes on unemployment, amount paid with extension. had to look for these deductions.

I had to run most of the program twice. It tried to join my wife's business and mine into ONE business. I finally had to go in and delete my wife's 1099-MISC and re-do it in order to get the program to accept it correctly. Furthermore, it did not do expenses for either business without my going back into the program several times and prompting it. I did not have these difficulties in any of the previous 3 tax years' Turbo Tax versions. (I switched from H&R Block Tax Cut to Turbo Tax several years ago for the same issues I had with Turbo Tax this year. Please let the guy who programmed the 2010 Turbo Tax version do the 2012 version. The programmer for the 2011 needs to give you a refund on the wages you paid him!)

I find it difficult to navigate and tedious to go through so many screens.
I will not be using turbo tax next year. Mainly because of all the add ons 29.95 for this 19.95 for that but if you are careful enough you might get a rebate - whats with that.

TROUBLE: Capital Loss Carryover
on April 10, 2012
Posted by: MIkeeJR
As usual I import last year's return into 2011 Turbo Tax. Everything import nicely EXCEPT my 2010 Capital Loss Cary Forward amounts. The ordinary column was all wrong ! Three out of four numbers were wrong. The AMT amounts were correct. I didn't notice the bad numbers until I was just about done with 2011 retuyrn and did a two-year comparison. Capital gains didn't look right. Lo and behold, IMPORT brought the wrong numbers !! I was glad I caught it... it was going to cost me over $4,000 in tax. I just over-rode the bad numbers in the Capital Gains Carry Forward Form, and all is well now. I don't know who made mistake: TurboTax or my computer... very strange indeed. Mike R.

This year's version of Turbo Tax was very easy to handle. Using the guided version took a lot of the guess work out of things. Upon occasion it was not really clear where the data should be entered, so I had to look harder to find those entry points. Form 8606 was difficult to handle properly. I thought the medical deductions were hard to enter because our medical providers don't divide it all up between doctor payments and clinic or hospital. I'm not sure it is really necessary to subdivide it as Turbo has done since it is all lumped together anyway.
