Software Bugs

TurboTax is OK for simple tax return. It has quite a few software bugs when importing TXF files, especially when the total number of transactions exceeds 1000. Extra wash sales entries, strange non-existent transactions, multiple "W" symbols under the code column (Form 8949), etc. begin to appear.

Has flaws that are irritating

I have used TT for several years. I use it for myself and to prepare my 89 year old mother's taxes. The most irritating thing that I have encountered is the Third Party Designee on the Form 1040. TT automatically defaults the answer to the question "Do you want to allow another person to discuss this return with the IRS?" to a NO without ever asking you this question. TT will allow you to override this in the forms and input the information, but it will then not allow you to efile the form. It did in 2010, but would not in 2011. TT tech help online said you could not override and efile.
TT should allow you to do whatever the Federal Forms allow.
Also, I was unable to get TT to go and automatically download my 1099 data from my finantial institution. It gave me the question and a place to select my institution, but when I selected it, it would not take the selection and go do it. I tried over and over and finally gave up and did it by hand.

Easiest edition to date

I've used TurboTax for a dozen years or more and must say by far this the easiest verson yet.
Interview mode scrreens seem less cluttered and easier to read through.
Navigation is fairly straight forward without many uneeded emcumberences.
Still miss the "What if?" that has been missing for several years.
If you change anything to check results you must be sure to "save file as" with a different name so as not to mix speculated numbers with return for file.

crashed when trying to print help documents, this is the first time this has ever happened to me.
The deductions for the different college credits is VERY confusing ! and your software did nothing to help make it easier. I still am not sure if I received the maximum benefit here.
