My TurboTax experience for Tax year 2011(Federal)

My tax situation is probably typical of most middle-class Americans: only one job, one W2; don't own a business; simple savings plans with no exotic investments. For this situation, using TurboTax makes tax filing a snap! For the price, I would recommend it highly for all those in a similar tax situation.
I've used TurboTax for years, but have always been fearful of "e-filing" my return. But then, last year, I took the plunge and did so. Same this year, and I'll never go back to mailing!

I have been using turbotax for many years and the process keeps getting easier. This year I downloaded financial information from my investments and these data were distributed to the appropriate forms.
I feel very confident of my electronic tax filing and the small premium paid for the audit defense is great for peace of mind.

not as easy this year

I've always used TurboTax. I've always liked it and felt it gave me an accurate tax return. This year, however, there were more questions that I didn't know the answer to and I couldn't find answers in the help section. I still don't know if my husband's retirement is "exempt" or "not exempt"!!! The description was the same for both, so I hope I checked the correct box!! It didn't change the amount I owe, so I'm assuming it's okay.
I also didn't feel that it was as easy to use. I do taxes once a year... and I forget every year what things are called! I need it to guide me through every possible scenario - don't use legal gargon, use dumbed down words for those of us who have no money to invest and don't know what you're talking about!
I'll probably use TurboTax again next near, though if my computer dies, I won't have my history for it to transfer all my normal info from. I guess we'll see. Maybe I'll win the lottory and can have someone do it for me!! :o)

What a work out loading software

Getting the software to load was a monumental task on an older PC but after 4 hours of research and down loads it worked GREAT!

Very comforting

I have had my taxes done by a professonal for many years, but my fianancial life is fairly straightforward and simple, so decided to do it myself this year. I'm a technical writer, so particularly critical of directions and procedures, and I found the TurboTax instructions and processes to be excellent, with lots of "comfort level" language - you've identified your audience well. I compared this year's return with last year's, and it tracked. This worked for me. Thanks!
