Life not simple for foreign filers

I live outside the US, so my income is treated differently -- I can choose to exclude foreign income (Form 2555) or I can choose to take a credit for foreign taxes paid (Form 1116). Turbotax doesn't make it straightforward and simple to choose one or the other -- it defaults to the exclusion (2555), and it doesn't explicitly say it's doing so or ever give you a chance to choose yourself (or tell you how it decided which is better for you). I've been using Turbotax since 1995, and every year I have this trouble. Please fix this and update me -- I would really appreciate it! I'd be happy to correspond with you to discuss it further and help be part of the solution.

The process of doing my taxes was smooth when using Turbo Tax. I was concerned about putting some investment information down and and didn't know how to do it, but Turbo Tax made it easy.

Worked ok, but.....

I usually purchase the Premium version of Turbo Tax, this year I was able to use the Basic version for the first time. All seemed to work properly except the function that allows connecting to my bank for downloading of 1099's. This feature would not work, even after many attempts and ensuring that I wasn't typing data incorrectly, I called my bank and discussed the issue with them since within Turbo Tax that is what I am told to do, the bank rep could see within their system that I was attempting to access, but they could not explain why TT was saying there were no Tax records for my account. I entered everything manually and moved on.
