2011 TURBO TAX RATING

IT WAS VERY FRUSTRATING TRYING TO E-FILE THE STATE TAX RETURN. APPARENTLY THE STATE TAX PROGRAM WOULD NOT ACCEPT CERTAIN DATA FROM THE FEDERAL TAX PROGRAM. SPECIFICALLY, THE "PAYER" INFORMATION OF THE FEDERAL FORM 1099 DIV WOULD NOT TRANSFER TO THE STATE TAX PROGRAM. THIS KEPT ME FROM BEING ABLE TO E-FILE THE IOWA TAX RETURN.
OVERCAME LIMITATION BY RE-WRITTING THE "PAYER" INFORMATION OF THE FEDERAL RETURN, WHICH ALLOWED THE IOWA STATE PROGRAM TO FINALLY ACCEPT THE DATA.
PROGRAM MESSAGE STATED THE PROBLEM AS BEING "TOO MANY CHARACTERS".

It loaded without problem. Two years ago it was a nightmare, it never loaded, it destroyed Quicken, and in desparation I had to do it online at TT's site.

Foreign Asset Section

I simply own some property in China. This year it seems I have to disclose that property. However, Turbo Tax provides no help whatsoever. It just makes you try to fill in the stupid blanks with no help at all. And the blanks just don't make sense. What is an issuer anyway? And why does it think the issuer has to have a foreign address? And why does it think it has to have a name? Not much of this makes sense, but Turbo Tax wouldn't let me e-file unless I filled in the stupid blanks that made no sense. Turbo Tax gets a failing grade for this part of the tax forms!! Completely useless other than forcing you to put something into certain required blanks that make no sense. So I just wrote some arbitrary words to satisfy Turbo Tax. I'll probably get audited now.
