Just what we needed!

As parents of twins, we were having a difficult time figuring out exactly what was going on while our babies were waking up and going to sleep. Should we go in? Are they both awake? Are they just fussing to fuss or do they need something? We decided that a video monitor was a necessary piece of baby gear. It gives us the ability to see what's going on and also gives us a special glimpse into our twins' interaction. I am thrilled with the Levana Stella!

Large Viewing Screen

Used the monitor today for the first time and I love the large viewing screen. My daughter sleeps on the second floor and the video monitor goes throughout our whole house with full signal. The only thing I was slightly disappointed was the size of the actual camera, it is just much larger than I anticipated but I am still happy with the overall purchase!

Better than Summer - no more "out of range"

We've had this monitor for about a month and so far so good. We had the Summer Infant Secure Sight previously but when we moved into a new house we had issues with it going out of range constantly, even just down the hall from the camera, and beeping loudly at night to let us know. I tried a neighbor's fancier Summer Infant model and had the same problem. The Levana models had really good reviews so I gave it a try. Here is what I’ve found so far.
While it will occasionally show the "lost signal" screen for the camera in the room that was giving us the most trouble, it happens significantly less often than the Summer and it seems to reconnect within seconds and is not an ongoing problem (plus it doesn't beep) - so for all practical purposes it has become an non-issue. The range is good. Worked well outside and even took it in our next door neighbor's house to see if it would keep the signal. From next door it lost signal occasionally on the camera in the problem room, but was still fairly reliable, and the camera in the baby's room seemed to transmit just fine.
The picture and sound are clear. Pic is probably comparable to the Summers. Because it won't pan down or tilt we had to wall mount one camera to get it to see in the baby's crib. The camera is a little bulky and the black cord isn't very attractive either, but we mounted it by a window so the curtain covers most of the cord. We have the other camera on a dresser in my 4 year old's room and it is able to get a view of his bed sufficiently without mounting. The panning is a great feature, and one we didn’t have before.
One thing I liked better about the Summer was when the video was off it would still pick up audio. PEEP mode on the Stella is a good idea, but I have problems with it - guessing it is just my unit b/c I haven't seen other reviewers with the same complaint. It would go into sleep mode and not turn back on. I've heard my baby screaming in her room and the monitor stays in sleep mode with no sound or video. I ended up just leaving PEEP mode off most of the time which burns through the battery much faster, but I probably still get 6 hours or so. I tried testing it again for this review and now when I have PEEP mode on the video and audio stay on all the time and it never sleeps, even when the rooms are empty.

Overall I need a monitor to work and work where I need it and this fits the bill where the Summer couldn't. So little conveniences aside, I'm happy with it.

We just received our Levana this morning and so far, I could not be more pleased with the easy setup and consumer friendly nature of the product. I spent a tremendous amount of researching different video monitors, including the Motorola, Summer Infant, and Levana. After speaking with other moms and reading customer reviews, I chose the Levana. The only reason I'm not giving it 5-stars is because I haven't had it long enough to give a truly accurate review of it's functionality over time. So far though, I love it!
