Used the other guy's phone in the past, always hoping for a "better" phone to come out with them (for many years). When I saw this demonstrated at the wireless provider, I thought "O.K., give it a try". MAN, Samsung and Google got it going on! The Linux based O.S. is fast and plays so sweeet with the fast hardware. Once you figure out how to turn everything off except when you need it, that battery lasts all day or super computer in your palm at a moments notice. For this expert (and certified) computer user, I won't go back. Great job Samsung engineers, give yourself an award!
Pros: Realistic color, Lightweight, fast
I would recommend this to a friend!

I upgraded to the Gal S II Epic 4 G with Sprint in August of this year because I live in a 4G WIMAX area that won't be upgraded soon to LTE. This phone still supports WIMAX so I get fair 4G usage.
My personal experience has been nothing short of horrible from the beginning and the phone continues to fail daily. It began the day I got it. The phone would not do a standard bluetooth connect. I had to get my bluetooth provider to fix it. The phone would not download a contact list, so I had to come up with a workaround for that.
Ultimately, it began to power cycle repeatedly during the day, even while laying on a table by itself. No interaction, it would just shut down and reboot. I tookk it to Sprint. They told me it had a bad Firm ware (FF18) so the upgraded it to FH13. I have regretted this upgrade every day.
Even after the update, the phone powers off by itself at least twice per day. I can't even depend on it to receive the calls or texts I need because it may have gone off while in the holster or in my pocket. Sprint is no help. I am hoping to get Samsung to help me out because I have to belive I just got a bad phone, but if this is typical of the Epic 4 G Touch, I wouldn't ever recommend this.
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, will not stay powerted on
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Nothing overwhelming about it!

First off I will start with saying that I anticipated this phone for such a long time and I had pretty high expectations. I have to admit that I was disappointed! Let’s start with good things first. The screen is awesome, super AMOLED plus screen rocks, very bright and true colors! Screen size is perfect. I prefer larger screens and this one is by far the best one out there. Fast processor and 1 GB of RAM make this device scream with processing power. Built in app Kies air works great and transferring files over wi-fi is a breeze. Lightweight and thin design.
Now let’s start with the negative points. Battery life is not as advertised. It does not last throughout the day of normal use. TouchWiz interface isn’t impressive and I do not like it. It’s just my personal opinion so don’s judge me on that one. UI in general lacks elegance and professional look. Dark theme on most of the built in apps is just dreadful. Keyboard is a joke for this kind of device and this kind of screen, again dark themed keyboard is plain ugly.
Stock email client is too basic. When you open up the email to read it the font size is ridiculously huge and there is no way to set the default font size so that device keeps it. You can change size of the font by either pinch gesture or by going into the menu and adjusting font size. At the bottom of the email body you have button which reads “Load more details" and it occupies almost 1/4 of the screen when in landscape mode. Why Samsung?
The wireless signal is poor to the point where the phone becomes unusable in my office. Other android phone I had did not have this problem and I always had at least three bars in my office.
In general I think, and again this is just my opinion, the phone lacks elegance and professional look. The UI is too plain. I am sending it back!
worked great the first week. Now the phone freezes, backs out of simple apps including messaging, sometimes have to shut off then restart phone just to access my messaging. The phone is only a little over a month old and gives me so many problems i want to throw it against the wall. I would have never bought it if I knew the problems I would have with the phone.
Cons: Did not meet expectations, too many glitches, freezes up, poor app performance

Known LoS bug ruins the phone

Samsung has a known issue with a random loss of service bug, that they have yet to fix. The phone will randomly drop voice and or data signal and not attempt to reacquire until a reboot is done on the handset. There is also no excuse for a 4.5" screen having a paltry 800x480 display resolution. On a positive note, the Exynos processor SCREAMS.
This is my first Samsung phone in several years, and it will be my last. It will be back to Motorola ad HTC for me.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Not high def, Too big, lack of support for known issues
