Another Also Ran...

Another fantastic idea which didn't come to fruition...
I must have bad luck with the products from Samsung. Every smartphone which I've purchased has had the most outrageous problems, and this model is no different.
After using the Carrier website to activate the phone and waiting two hours for the battery to charge, I turned on the phone. Like the Nexus, the display is amazing and the size is exactly what I need, as I use my smartphone for business purposes. I had everything needed to get started with the Touch and my anticipation level was very high, after reading all of the pre-release information about the Samsung Galaxy S2 Epic 4G Touch, as well as reading all of the customer comments and ratings. My expectations were high and I was hoping that I would be swept away with the amazing experiences in store for me from this latest offering from Samsung.
The problems were immediate and many.
First of all, I had NO connection, either via 3G, 4G or WiFi. I have the Sprint AirRave in my home, to help to boost the signals, and I have a very powerful wireless router. The Galaxy S2 did not register any signals whatsoever and I couldn't get logged onto anything in any manner.
Two hours later, I still had no real connection. The phone would not recognize 3G or 4G but would be in "ROAM" mode, sucking the battery life down like there was no tomorrow. The WiFi status indicated that I had very poor signal strength and would not stay stable; I couldn't get logged on to any website. This affected eMail, of course, and I was unable to register.
I ended by deactivating my new phone and reactivating my old phone. The Galaxy S2 is being returned.
I'm hoping that this disastrous experience is because I ended up with a defective unit, and that everyone else will not have any problems.
Pros: Bright display
Cons: Poor quality, Did not meet expectations, did not detect 3g 4g or wifi, would not leave roaming status, battery life was poor, cheap plastic feeling
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

LOSS OF SIGNAL
on October 5, 2011

Coming from a Sprint HTC Evo 4G... Like many others I have experienced a loss of signal with this phone which requires a battery pull and reboot to restore. This isn't just to poor coverage as it happens when I have full bars. I know several others who have tried exchanging their phone only to have the same issues with the replacement. This points to a problem with the software which needs to be updated. Unfortunatly, Samsung is usually very slow with their cell updates. I will be returning this phone for a HTC Evo 3D. Sorry Samsung, I gave it a shot. If the phone didn't lose signal, it would be the best phone that I have had to date.
Cons: Did not meet expectations
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

So far only thing I can say is great things about the device. Coming from a EVO 4G that was rooted / customized to the max. Yet I do not miss it, other than getting rid of the Sprint Apps. :)
Ive had the HTC EVO 4G,Motorola Photon 4G and now the Epic 4G Touch and i absolutely love this phone everything a phone should be and more!! this phone is awesome the only thing it didnt have and wish it did is NFC.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight, feature rich, fast and smooth
Cons: no nfc
I would recommend this to a friend!

Tech's jaw dropping on power-up says it all!

I'm moving from a Palm Pre so it wouldn't have taken much to impress me but this phone is unreal! I've been putting it through it's paces and it hasn't heated up even a little bit. The sound and phone quality are the best i've experienced. The Camera/ video quality and multitude setting selections and ease of use is impressive. I wish it would have come with a lanyard. I'm going to drop it at some point. (I did attach a convention badge holder in the "much appreciated" lanyard pin-hole for now.)
Pros: Bright display, ease of use
Cons: should come with a lanyard.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I switched over from the Nexus One, and the Samsung Galaxy S2 simply blows it out of the water! Everything is as smooth as butter, and fast as a jet plane!
Great features, easy set up, fast processor, incredible light weight, and stunning display. Truly the best in the market. Well woth a look. Don't think you will regret this one. A winner!
