How to get the most from this beauty.

We have owned our unit for 9 months and are very pleased with it. It always get rave reviews from all of our guests for its beauty and functional doors. It is essential that you calibrate your oven before you start using it to cook. Get a ThermoWorks Chef Alarm, read the simple instructions and calibrate your oven. It takes about 45 minutes but it is necessary. Our oven needed to be adjusted -7 degrees. The instruction for setting up your oven explains how to make the easy adjustments.
The oven is extremely intuitive and easy to use. We have used all of the functions and they make this unit very versatile. One of the complaints I have is that it takes a long time to get to temperature. 13 minutes to get to 350 degrees. Once there however it hold the temp very well. This is especially important if you are cooking multiple items with varying times. Opening and closing the door does not impact the temperature as you would think. The roll out shelves are very useful.
Another issue is that the broiler is not as hot as I think it should be. There are 4 broil options: Hi/low, Convection and Low Broil crisp. High Broil is just not hot enough.
The convection functions are excellent. As is the clean function. You do not need to use the clean function for 4 hours. You can adjust that and I use it for just under 3 hours and it is fine. The glass on the doors needs attention separate and apart from cleaning the rest of the oven.
It maybe just our oven but I have stopped using the "cook time" because when the time is up the oven turns off. (The nobs do not move, it just turns off) So if you take the food out of the oven and it is not finished, you need to know to restart the temp setting. I use the "kitchen timer" feature instead as it is more functional. In truth you can set multiple times on the kitchen timer function. Unlike the cook timer, you will need to turn the oven off manually when you are finished. Although annoying, the timers alert you one minute before the time is actually up. I am guessing this is for the folks who leave the room while cooking. One caveat, the convection timing is calculated into the cook timer, not the kitchen timer.
The oven light illuminates the oven very well.
There are hot spots in this oven. Although it is even from left to right, I find the temp is nominally higher on the lowest rack level. If you like to make pizza, cook your pie on the lowest rack level. You will be rewarded.
I have never used the internal probe as I rely on the ThermoWorks. The "proof" feature is neat but I am not a baker so I cannot tell how well it works. It is simply faster than leaving your dough on the counter.
This is a wonderful oven that I am pleased we bought and I use it almost every day. It is great for thanksgiving and other holidays. Even if you never cook, this is a great appliance to look at. Your guests will be enamored with it.

Why I bought the oven in the first place

We have had and used another brand Swing Door Oven Product for 20 years that failed and there were no longer any replacement parts obtainable to repair it.
The fact that the GE CAFE style oven doors "swing open" and not drop down in front of you was the deciding facture for us to purchase one.
Safety and access are necessary considerations when you are looking for a residential oven product to be used by a full time WHEELCHAIR person who both loves to cook and is good at doing so. It becomes a No Brainer decision.
Drop Down oven doors are a distinct Safety Hazard in our household. Additive to that is the fact that the oven racks roll out, are very stable, and have Stop Locks to prevent the possibility of pulling hot foods out of the oven and have them fall in the lap of a Wheelchair restricted cook.

We really like our oven

We got the oven as part of a complete kitchen remodel in late 2017. We use it almost every day. We especially like the double-doors feature, which makes it really easy to access what's inside.
With some ovens that have single doors that pull down you can't be sure that the door is shut tightly because it's just spring pressure that holds it closed. But with this oven, just before the doors are closed there's a little resistance and you give them a little push and they click shut. You can do that with one hand, if you want to, because when you move one door the other door moves simultaneously. Also, the doors are quite thick and the outside of them doesn't get hot.
One more thing: my wife likes the sounds the timer makes when it gives the one-minute warning and when it reaches zero: "It's so cute!"

Supremely convenient---and bakes well, too!

Having watched an envied the cooking show chefs with French door ovens, when it came time to upgrade our kitchen, I researched which would be the best. The GE model got the best ratings, and I agree. It is accurate, attractive, has very user-friendly controls, and the fact that I can open one door with one hand and have both open (at eye level) is marvelous.

Bought this for a kitchen remodel. Chose this model to replace another wall oven. So glad I did. Love the French door feature and having the oven elevated and not having to lean over a hot door is great! Also good for my back!

Love it!

We had the cafe dual range, but love to entertain so added the French door wall oven when we renovated. Absolutely love everything about it. I can't think of one thing we would change about it, other than the price! It's really pretty and love how the doors open, makes it easy to get things in and out of it. Love the brightness of the light inside too, the racks glide really smooth and are so easy to use once I figured it out. I like the wifi feature of it too, it is nice to be able to check if I accidentally left the oven on after I leave the house.

We bought all of the GE Café appliances when we remodeled our kitchen. I love the French doors and all of the features. The only thing I would change is the dials, they are so easy to move, that all you have to do is bump them and they turn.
