Excellent DLSR

The A65 DSLR stands at the very top in Entry level DSLR or rather its near to be called as Pro-DSLR considering the wide range of features and excellent picture quality, color depth and 10fps mode with so many features to enhance the picture quality.
I had compared Canon 60D, 7 D (pro-DSLRs), Nikon entry level DSLRs and pro-dslr(Nikon D7000, 700) but considering the features that a65 offers with reasonably fantastic picture quality, the Sony A65 is a clear winner.
Pros: Ease of Use, Quality, Value for Money, Design, Durability, Features

Why I will not replace my alpha 65
on May 9, 2012

Almost all beginner photographers fail to get a good photo with their over rated expensive dslr cameras and start using softwares to produce a photo to show off their cameras (or to hide their waste of money). After using some of the kings of the hill I have found that I needed to spend more time on PC to fix up brightness, white balance, contrast and specially noise because those cameras does not show accurate output of photo in live view. To be honest, alpha SLT cameras are the first camera which were able to show me 99% exact live view of long exposer night shots where the other cameras (such as 7d,60 and so on) had black screen of mystery. Alpha 65 may not have the ultimate magic touch of alpha 77 but after using it for 7 months I can say that I am glad that I did not buy any other camera in this price.
the features that can beat even 5d mark II :
nice sensor for low light, exact output of live view even in dark room where 5D will not show where it is focusing on, multy shot noise reduction upto 160000 iso which I have tested to give usable output upto 128000 iso, built in hdr upto 6EV, superb stead shot is can be achieved even in 1/40 of shutter speed.
Pros: Ease of Use, Quality, Value for Money, Design, Durability, Features

Upgraded from A37 to A65VK
on September 24, 2012
Posted by: Loeshik
Last Thursday I bought the A37 Kit and tested it at home and while it had all the bells and whistles I was not pleased with the size. It was small and so returned and got the A65VK today(24/9/2012). Used up the remaining charge photographing my Mum during her prime time TV viewing and was thrilled with the results.
I would recommend this and the rest of the Alpha lines to anyone; except be sure the size feels right as switching to different settings does make a significant difference while shooting and the last thing you want is to press the wrong setting or spend time finding it. Note hint applies to A37 and my upgrade to A65 has been best decision ever.
Now I am waiting for the charging of the battery so I can shoot some more night shots.
Since Sony really gives other manufacturers the run for their money in terms of technology; Translucent Mirror, HD Video, Tracking Focus etc; it would be nice to see the introduction of lithium batteries or alkaline usability apart from proprietary Lithium Ion battery.
In conclusion I'd say: great to have EVF. Now we would love the long battery life to go with that because the Alpha lines are extraordinary and can be used professionally in a variety of situations. I am sure more first time buyers will turn to Sony Alphas if some more changes are incorporated but hey things are evolving!
Happy SLTeeing!

My A65 SLT
on July 4, 2012

Just got my A65 with the SAL1650 lens. Straight out of the box set it up and the first thing I noticed was how amazingly vivid the viewfinder is. After reading the manual I found it a little difficult to find my way around having only ever used Pentax since 1982. If I had one negative comment it would be the manual is not to user friendly, had to google to get some answers. ie Changing aperture in manual. But I think I'm being a bit pickie. Doing a wedding in 2 weeks and really looking forward to using my A65 followed by a trip tp Tassie soon as well. The Sony is a great camera and finally breaking new ground where other brands seem to be running out of ideas.
Pros: Quality, Value for Money, Design, Durability, Features
Cons: Ease of Use

After having started with an a100 I found it a breeze. Everything was easy to find after a few minutes play time.
The little hints tucked away when you go into the menu were a real help. It's great. I love it
