great quality and value

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I prefer cooking with gas and this is the best gas range I have ever had. The fast powerful front burners speed initial heating then turn down adequately to provide more gentle and even cooking. I can get a true simmer despite the power it has when on high. I have not used the griddle yet but realize it goes in place of the grate, not on it.
I really love the oven probe. This results in juicy perfectly done roasts ,chicken, turkey and even steaks (critical as my spouse prefers his "rare"). The lower oven is a valuable addition to allow a pie or side dish to cook at the same time as a large roast or turkey is in the upper oven. The cooking temps in the oven are even. I particularly appreciate the good insulation. The top and door of the stove do not get hot. All convection oven fans are noisy but the GE Cafe is quieter than my previous stove and seems to turn off more quickly even after using a hot oven.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Excellent Temp control

We replaced a 10 year old high end slide in range, so I am comparing high end to high end.
First, the oven temp control and heat distribution is excellent. I make pizza all the time and the browning is even from front to back. I just wish it would go higher than 525. Even at 525, the front of the stove is only warm to the touch, it never gets hot. The old one got so hot you could barely touch the control panel. We use the convection all the time, it not only speeds cooking times, but it will give a rib roast a nice outside browning.
The front super burner needs a very wide to capture the large flame. It boils water faster than any I have used. The true test, however, is very low simmer. The old stove only had one burner that would go to a simmer level and stay lit, all 4 on this stove can go to a low simmer and stay lite. The small burner in the rear can go below a simmer and keep something warm. All 4 of the main burners have an excellent range of high heat to low simmer. The range of movement of the knobs, does not match the level of flame, so for most of the range of movement there is little change in flame.
The center burner griddle works very well. I have yet to set above 3 for pancakes or sandwiches, just remember that you have to preheat any griddle before cooking. I cook meat outside even in Feb when it is 10 deg outside, so I have no idea how well this works for meat, but based on the low setting, I think the griddle would get more than hot enough.
Some have complained about the fan that turns on once the oven reaches a certain temperature. This fan keeps the back of the stove cool. Our old stove did not have this feature and the back vent area got so hot you could not touch it for even 1 second. While I would have liked a bit quieter fan, low profile stoves that have rear vents do require air circulation for safety.
We have not used the keep warm oven on the bottom, we use it for storage.
Overall, we are very pleased with this stove. Appearance is subjective, but performance is not. This unit performs better than I expected. Like any tool, you need to learn how to take advantage of the features and burner performance

Purchased this range to replace an existing range in our new home. The old range was an artisy Italian range that was probably purchased by the previous owners for the look versus function. Now, I have the looks and function with my new GE Cafe range.
I love the control panel in the front...no more reaching across a hot range to get to the control panel. The oven cooks with amazing precision. And the cooktop, boils water so quickly, making quick dinner prep so easy. The oven fan is a little noisy when cooking at temps over 400 degrees, but that does not really bother me to much.
Overall, I love it and it looks great in my kitchen. I am now replacing my other appliances with GE Cafe products to complete the look.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Display clock/panel does not light up.

I ordered this stove/oven for our cabin. The delivery was 4 hours late (not the ovens fault) so I was unable to try the oven out when it arrived due to needing to return home for kids. I just had the first chance to use it. The burners are nice. The clock display does not light up. You can touch the pad and get the oven to turn on, clear/off etc. but you can not read the temp, time, or what function it is on. I did contact the store and they are submnitting the issue to customer service. The issue is the distance to the cabin and the next time I am here we have a college graduation party.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have been way impressed with my new oven so far. Not only does it look beautiful in my kitchen, but it works fabulously. The power boil feature is wonderful--I can boil things so much faster than before that I have to watch closer to prevent it from boiling over! I love the center griddle. I read complaints about it not being hot enough but I wonder if people are putting it on top of the center grate. You have to take out the center grate in order to insert the griddle. I warmed it up while I made my pancake batter and it was ready to go when I was! I baked bread and it turned out beautifully.
I read complaints about the fan noise and the sensitivity on the touch pad. I have not had an issue with either one. The fan is noticeable but not overbearing--normal for a convection oven. And I haven't had any issue at all with the touch pad being too sensitive.
I haven't tried everything out yet but so far I LOVE my new range.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I'm happy with the cook top, good heat and even distribution. I haven't tried the griddle or the warming drawer yet. I read plenty of reviews at sites other than GE before purchasing, nobody mentioned the noisy oven fan that runs the entire time oven is in use and after oven turned off. I won't recommend this product until GE does something about the fan noise. I hope they do a recall to fix the noise problem.

Cooks great, exhaust fan NOISY

Had our GE Cafe range installed just under a month cooks great, range heats evenly and oven heats fast. BUT, the exhuast noise from the oven is outrageously noisy. Not necessarily obnoxious but enough to need talk a little louder when its on.
