cafe gas range

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have used the GE Cafe range for appx two years.The fan is a little loud.
The stove top grates easily scratch the stainless.
The control touch pad is extremely sensitive, it has been turned off by accident if you happen to lean to reach for something and your. body touches it. The heat from the stove top has melted the laminate on the cabinet doors that are above the range. I love the appearance. I also like the simmer burner and wish there were two simmer burners It has also damaged the handles on my cookware..

Fan Noise

I agree with other reviews about the annoying fan noise. It is annoying to have the fan run long after the oven is turned off. I would like to know if this can fixed. We are also disappointed how long it takes to pre-heat the oven.

May look beautiful but it's a lemon

We bought this stove 6 years ago when we renovated our kitchen, it's a beautiful looking stove! However, we've had numerous problems with it. It oven stopped working within the first year (I cook everyday). We replaced every related part (electronic panel, cover, thermostat) and the stove continues to shut off mid-bake. It's extremely frustrating given the cost of this product.

Beautiful oven but hard to maintain the beauty....

We've had the oven for about a year now. It's so beautiful and works perfect. Love all the features. However the brushed stainless finish on top of the oven scratches too easily when cleaning. We can't seam to find the best solution. When taking the grates off, it's makes even deeper scratches. Makes me crazy because we spent so much on this oven.

too many service issues

I love this oven, but we have had a lot of service issues in the one year we have had it...replaced the control panel twice, fan once, burner once...now have to call again to get another control panel...it's great if I don't broil or try to clean it!!

Range top is Great! Lower oven is a plus feature!

So far we have been disappointed with the baking aspect in the oven. The convection bake mode does not convert when a traditional oven degree temperature is entered. We have tried this option many times and have been unable to use the convection feature. Our bagged Thanksgiving turkey took over six hours (rather than 3 1/2) to cook at a traditional 350 degrees. This was unacceptable since we had company. We have purchased and tested an oven thermometer, and find that the oven takes much longer to preheat than indicated on the stove display. At the display point the 350 degree oven is actually 260 degrees, a 400 degree oven is actually 325 degrees etc !!

Swiss Knife of stoves

I consider myself a weekend warrior chef, and I absolutely love this stove. I read many reviews and some are right on others are simply wrong. So let talk about few. Power burner absolute monster love it. I do wish it was in the back thou. simmer burner a lot of you stated it goes out, I never had this issue. it's very low you need put your hand over to test it's on, otherwise you don't see the flame, never burned bachemel or other sauce yet. the igniters on the other hand it's another story. They are finicky and temperamental like any chef and you have to work with them slowly to get the fire on. If you miss you gas gas in your face. the igniter has very narrow window to work, as explained to me by GE tech it designed to ignite at a optimum position and that's within 2mm then he looked at me and blinked. another words it is rubish but small issue for me. Oven takes some getting used to and fine tuning the temperatures takes some work. The two finger touch pad override control is tricky and painful to perform, however once you do it once and never have to deal with it again. So no big deal. after initial adjustments you will be rewarded with beautifully roasted, chicken or anything for that matter. That is why I love this stove and would re-purchase it need be.

A great addition to our new kitchen

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We bought three GE Cafe series appliances as a package and like them all. This stove cooks great, with the larger burners being a terrific feature. By far we like the center burner most, as using it for pancakes, eggs, burgers, bacon and anything else we chose to use it for is exactly what we were looking for in a stove. The biggest complaint we have however is that the stainless top has scratched already due to taking the burner grids on and off.
I would recommend this to a friend!
