I don't do many reviews unless the product/service warrants warning people about a bad product or I'm impressed with the product. This is one of the items I bought that is proving to be worth the cost, in other words I'm impressed. I bought the GE Range a couple of months ago. I wanted a free standing, stainless steel range with the controls in the front. I have had fluids boil over and the range is easy to clean. The lower oven is bonus and the controls are easy to learn and use. The only downside is that the controls are sensitive to the touch, which just like others have stated in reviews I read before buying the range, the sensitivity is not an issue for our house as they can readily be canceled or reset but if you have children they will want to play with them to hear the beeps.
Installed on 3/17/16, I am disappointed that the control panel does not light up, I need a flashlight sometimes to set the controls. I have had the unit for less than a month and both oven lights have burnt out. I am attempting now to replace them, so fan with no luck. I removed the screws from one but the entire light assembly slides out but I need to remove the lens?
I bought this oven a few weeks ago and could not wait to use it. It was finally installed and all I can say is what an oven. The powerful burners boiled water in no time. I am excited to use all the other features real soon.
A couple complaints with this range: 1) the fan inside the oven ALWAYS runs when the oven is on and until it's cooled off. Very annoying and loud. 2) the control panel is dark and not back lit. We have to turn the kitchen lights up high to see what buttons to push.
The gas stove works nice and has nice features with quick boil. Watch out when moving the grates, the stainless will scratch.
I would never purchase stainless appliances again - IMPOSSIBLE TO KEEP CLEAN.
I bought this a little over a year ago. I needed a range ASAP because my DCS broke and they stopped making parts for my model. This sounded perfect. But I came to find out how far from that it is. First, there is only one, 1, burner that has a simmer function. It also happens to be one on only two, 2, that will boil water. Forget about keeping something warm on a back burner while you sauté or pan fry anything. It's as useful as a hot plate to me. The other glaring fault is that the broiler isn't adjustable. One setting, broil and its in the top oven so you can't move what you're cooking more than about 5" away from the flame. All it's bells and whistles actually render it useless to a serious cook.
My advice, go the extra couple of thou and get a real professional stove or go cheap and get one that all the burners go high to low.
My simmer function blew out exactly a year after purchase so I'm not even covered under they're warranty.
