Good Player - A lot of features
on April 13, 2014

I purchased this player to replace a PS3 player that just died and was unable to play disks. I must say I am quite happy with the quality of the picture and speed of this device. Even the DVD upscaling is quite good as well.
One note, I could not see a picture at all using one of my old HDMI cables. I swapped HDMI cables with a newer one and it worked. I wish Sony put some sort of bold printed note about this in their manual. I was scratching my head for some time trying to figure out what was wrong.
Because of this I can only at best give this product a 4 star rating.

Upgrade Purchase

I bought this to upgrade from my Sony BDPS360 for the WIFI feature. I don't care about streaming from the net, but use it to access movie and music files on my computer which is upstairs and the TV is not. Also love that I can load up a flash drive with enough music or video to play all day in the back round. I have had no problems with this unit, installation took a couple of minutes and the unit performed perfectly.

Easy to Set-Up, Easy to Use: Flawless!

Installation: Unbox, connect HDMI, connect power, turn on, follow on-screen instructions. (Tip: First thing you should do is update the software during set-up of any electronics; this Blu-Ray updated in under 2 minutes.) I use password-protected WiFi; all I had to do was input my network name and password when prompted. From the time I opened the box to the time I was online was well under 20 minutes. Sony Entertainment Network: I got this to access and share YouTube with visitors on TV. Neither the box nor the online reviews prepared me for the large number and variety of services offered! Miracast: I have a Droid Razr Mini Android phone. The Sony Blu-Ray "mirror" function works flawlessly with my phone. "Quickstart Feature": I had to turn this feature off to use the automatic function of an HDMI hub/switcher. With Quickstart, you're ready to use it in 2 seconds; without Quickstart, you're ready within 6 seconds, which is still faster than I can grab another remote (for the HDMI hub). Durability? I've only had this for a month. However, I've got a Sony radio and a Sony Vaio laptop, both of which are still working perfectly despite being over 16 years old. I assume

Amazing bang for your buck!

Features and speed keep improving on all BDP's and the cost keeps coming down; what's not to like? I mostly just use the basic features on this Sony player for watching DVD's and BDP's. It loads fast, the picture quality is fine, and the menus are straightforward, attractive, and easy to navigate. At this price point that's about all one might expect. But the Sony does it with such finesse. I also love the small footprint and streamlined case. It can fit almost anywhere.
Since I also have a Sony TV one remote manages both units. This helps with remote table clutter. The TV also auto selects the BDP whenever it's on; little things sometimes help a lot. I know the player can stream content, as well, but my Sony TV does all that with ease so there's no need for me to link at the moment except for firmware downloads or additional blu-ray content.
Overall, I think today's electronics provide incredibly advanced function but the Sony products have the edge on appearance, style, and integration. I'd recommend them to anyone especially if you're on a tight budget. Lots of bang for your buck with these Sony product lines!
I would recommend this to a friend!

Does exactly what I wanted it to do.

My previous Blu-ray disc player was equipped with Wi-Fi but was unreliable at best. This basic player (meaning that it doesn't have 3D capability like most every top of the line offering) is excellent at streaming over a Wi-Fi connection. Also has a feature that allows Blu-ray discs to load MUCH faster than my other two current players. I like it. Does all of the normal disc playing functions well with an abundance of supportive features. There is no panel display so you really have to count on the remote and the on-screen displays to operate.

Was in need of a new DVD player. After reading reviews, I decided on the Sony Blu-ray player with Wi-Fi. I'm glad I did. I am 78 years old, hate complicated setups of new gadgets, many reviews stated the easy setup, indeed it was like a breeze.

I really enjoy this Blu Ray player. The picture quality with Blu Rays and regular DVD's is great. I really enjoy the built-in Wifi feature the most. I am able to enjoy movies thru Netflix and can watch videos thru You Tube as well. There are other things I can do that I haven't tried yet. I am really enjoying this player so far. I would definitely recommend buying this Blu Ray player.

Has the most internet services of all DVD players

This DVD player is very easy to set up, takes up very little space and had a phenomenal number of internet apps built in. Take the time to go through them. If you find that you don't have access yet, somewhere in the settings you can run a software update - that will fix the problem. I actually bought this more for the internet apps then for use as a DVD player - but I'm 100% completely satisfied with both aspects of my purchase. The price for what I'm getting is outstanding too! Highly, highly recommend this player. I now have two, and plan to replace one more of my existing DVD players with this as well. If you don't have a smart TV, make it one for less than $100 with this DVD player!
Oh and my upstairs bedroom player is a solid 30-40 feet away from my Wifi box (which is downstairs) and I have zero problems with connectivity.
