Some issues, but still a keeper

Samsung WB350F White
1) Upon arrival, it got "codec" errors every time I tried to record a video. Live Chatted w/ support, they were very helpful at stepping through their flowchart, finally arriving at the "download firmware" bullet. I did, it worked. On the positive side, the firmware re-load went easier than I expected.
2) This may sound trite to some, but how do you hold the silly camera? The right hand grip is fairly intuitive, but the left hand? No matter how you grip the thing, you risk interfering with something: flash pop-up, focus light, lens, whatever. The 172 page manual (subject for another day) does not have a single photo or illustration of someone holding the camera ready to shoot. I emailed support, they referred me to a page in the manual that had nothing to do with the issue, nor did any page in the whole manual that I could find.
3) Then there is the manual. What comes in the box is a "quick start" pamphlet. If you want a hard copy manual, you have to print it out yourself. All 172 pages of it. Formatted in a way that is not very printer friendly. OK, so everyone is supposed to LOVE pdf manuals. NOT.
4) The placement of the micro SD card is BAD. Three times now I have accidentally ejected the card with such force that it shot over my shoulder and landed behind me. Almost like looking for a lost contact in the middle of a Bluegrass jam session. (You'd think I would learn, but really?... ) The way the card is positioned, when you reach in to replace the battery (you have to flip down a little gate) your thumb nail lines up perfectly with the SD card, CLICK, and there it went, zooming past your ear. Not a problem you say? It is. What if you are finished taking this group of photos and just want to put in a fresh battery and move on to the next jam? You might not know your microSD is missing (including all of your recent photos and recordings) until you come up on that next wild "parking lot pickin' session". Or worse, try to find one of those babies in grass or mud. Yeah.
5) I wish it had an honest-to-goodness lens cap. The shutter-like automatic thingy does not look very rugged NOR protective.
6) I found I spent more time figuring out what to ignore on the various screens and menus than learning what to use. And if a month or so goes by and I don't use it, I'll have to re-learn most of it. It would be really nice if you could HIDE/UNHIDE a lot of the stuff you don't plan to use. What percentage of users do you think will actually ever take a photo in those more geeky modes? Betcha 85% NEVER go out of AUTO.
So after all of that, why do I like the thing? So far, it looks like a pretty nice camera, and I especially like being able to change batts and have the date/time settings stick.. The photos and videos seem good. Haven't had a chance to check video sound quality yet.... I hope it is good, cause I run into some really HOT pickers at Bluegrass festivals.
Cons: Poor quality, had to re-load firmware right out of the box, left hand grip interferes with camera function, can not hide/un-hide unused features, microsd accidentally ejects, no traditional lens cap
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great value for the dollar. Absolutely easy to use and small enough to take anywhere but powerful enough to take some great pictures and the wifi capability makes it an absolutely must have.
I am still learning how to use this camera. It is amazing that a camera of this size has so many features found in larger more expensive smart cameras. I am very pleased.
Pros: Bright display, Inexpensive, Lightweight
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this camera because I photograph my dogs a lot. I have 3, and invariably one of them is not looking at the camera. I specifically looked for the continuous burst mode, and this really delivers. I took the camera with me hiking, and even dropped it, and it was fine. Easy to change from one mode to the other, I usually use the auto function. I got GREAT pics of my dogs on the hike, beautiful macro shot of a vinca flower, panoramic shots in a cave, and scenery shots. I couldn't be more pleased with both the camera and the price. Took great action shots, and the zoom pics I took weren't blurry at all. I wanted to upload pics, but everything was too big! :(
