Good overall! The only issue I have with it is the food shoots out on the side. Logically, to me, the food would shoot out right in front. But with this the spout is off to the side. Just seems weird to me. Like I said though, good overall!!
I would recommend this to a friend!

I was surprised at the power of this food processor. I used it 4 times and it was very effective. This machine cut down on food prep time exponentially. It chopped my veggies with ease and clean up was a breeze. It is loud, but that was expected. For the first time in my life, I successfully made hummus and salsa! It was easy to clean up and store.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Love the size of this product. Has all the useful attachments I need, but takes up very little storage space. Easy to use and clean. Does s great job with finely shredding lettuce and vegetables. This will definitely replace a couple of gadgets I was using previously. So convenient!
I tested this food processor a few times using a couple of different foods. The 450hp motor was powerful enough to finely chop veggies, meats, nuts etc.. I liked the stainless steel looks of the food processor, and the dicing and grating blade was also a nice touch. However, I had issues with food getting stuck between the feeder tube and the edge of the lid, and these areas were tough to clean.
I received this unit complementary to review, however, this did not affect my opinion or review of the product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is the first food processor I have ever used. I was excited to try the Oskar food processor model 4050 and was curious how it would look and work, once I took it out of the box and set it up. I went over at my mother's house, to try this machine because she has a big kitchen and I needed counter space, which I do not have enough of.
This model is black plastic with a silver front. It is a little heavy, but isn't overly large, which is very nice. It came with a food chute, a shred and slice bowl that the food chute gets attached to, a food pusher that is in two pieces, a chopping bowl and lid, one reversible disc that shreds and slices in thin pieces, and one chopping/dicing blade, and one manual. The unit looks very nice, overall.
The first thing I chose to do, was to shred cheese, for the lasagna I decided to make. So... I got out the block of mozzarella cheese I needed to shred and got it ready for the food chute. Mind you, I thought this would be tame to start with. So, once I did that, I read the manual to see what to do next. It said to lock the chute and turn the processor on first. Well, that turned out to be not the easiest thing to do, since in order to turn the thing on, you have to turn the food chute and lock the food chute at the SAME TIME, which is totally ridiculous. Turning and locking the chute in, is what turns it on. And, when you have small hands like I do, this is VERY difficult to do. It takes two hands just to lock and turn on the food processor. It also doesn't easily slide and lock or unlock.
So... I put the cheese in, once the chute was locked and the processor was on. I also made sure it was on a smooth, flat surface like the manual said to. Little did I know, that this food processor was alive... When I put the cheese in, the processor jumped around and started spewing the cheese all over the place. Using the food pusher was useless, and didn't keep cheese from shooting up from the feeder area, and also, the cheese didn't ONLY go right into the large bowl I'd placed under the food chute... It went all over the counter as well. Oster was NOT lying when they said the motor was powerful. Hahaha, that was an understatement! It was ridiculously strong and there was no other option but full blast power.
Also, the cheese gets stuck in the food chute between the wall of the feeder area and the food chute bowl itself and you need to use a knife to pull it out.
And, when I turned it off, the power was so strong, that it actually broke the plastic lip that is ON the food chute, that locks AND turns on the food processor, when I tried to turn the food chute, so I could turn the processor off. It was vibrating like crazy. That was totally annoying! So, that ended the use of the food chute, which was hugely disappointing. I had planned on slicing up some things, but thanks to it breaking the plastic lip, I never got to do that.
If I was to design a food chute, I would make the area where the food comes out, longer and not so short and close to the processor itself. It needs to be able to go down into the bowl instead of high above the bowl you place under the chute where the food comes out. The chute is too short and high and too close to the processor, and that's why food goes all over the place. It was designed badly, in my opinion.
I just want to know, who the heck decides to design a food processor WITHOUT a SEPARATE on and off switch and choose to design it with the locking mechanism as the means for turning the processor on and off?? That is not only dangerous, but stupid. And, CHEAP AND LAZY. I would NEVER let my young nieces near this thing, and use it, because of that. And, if I had kids, the same. The thing is a being from h*ll and no way on this earth would I let a kid near it. Seriously, an adult should know that you NEVER use a locking mechanism as the means to turn on something that uses blades. NEVER. The food chute or chopping bowl should be locked FIRST, and then the machine should be able to be turned on SEPARATELY, with a different button.
Not only that, it has only ONE speed. Why does it not have two speeds? It should have a fast and slower speed for doing different things. It would have been so much better for shredding the cheese if it had a slower power button. Really, who needs full power for shredding cheese?? And, why does it not have another button for pulsing it on and off as well? Trying to pulse this thing in its current state, is ridiculously HARD and dangerous to do, if you are not very careful.
The food pusher itself, well, that could really be improved upon. It is a very nice concept, but if I was the person designing it, I would have made two different kinds of food pushers, instead of two that "lock" together. They really do NOT lock together and it is a very clumsy design. You can't use them without the two halves coming apart, if you want to use both for larger foods. I would make two kinds: One that has two halves that do not lock, and one could use one to push the food down, while the other holds the food in place, and another that is one large size, that fits into the entire mouth of the food chute, that is solid and not just two halves clumsily put together. I tried both and it was just not very fun to use.
Ok, so next, after that fiasco, and after dying of laughter because of what happened, since my mother was in the kitchen with me while I was trying this thing out, I decided to chop up the onions I needed for my lasagna. That was not so bad to do. It was much more pleasant. And, the bowl was easier to turn to lock and turn on and off than the food chute was. I still think this business of no separate on and off switch is ridiculous, however. It would have been easier to have that and just be able to lock the bowl in place before turning it on.
It chopped up the onions very well. However, you have to turn the machine off very fast or they will turn into mush. It's that fast! I'd say that they were more minced than diced.
I also tried puréeing cookies on another day, for making mud pie. I used Oreos and it puréed them very well, for the most part. I did find a couple large chunks after doing so, so I had to turn it on a bit longer to finish it. Over all, it worked for the most part. The 4 cup bowl doesn't fit enough cookies to do them all in one batch so I needed to do a couple batches to get it all done.
I also diced some apples. That was ok, but it doesn't dice evenly, apples. If you want nice cuts, do not use a food processor. If you don't care, just use the processor. It does well for making desserts that you would eventually cook the diced apple for. Again, it dices FAST, so don't leave it on long unless you want more than a diced apple!
As for the manual, it was ok, but not the best manual I have ever seen. The ink was MUCH too light and they need to use black ink instead of gray. Some people do not see well, and gray is just awful for reading! It was written ok, but that could be improved upon as well.
NOTE: I chose to use the power cord to turn on and off the food processor in the end, for safety reasons. I decided turning the food chute and the bowl to lock AND turn the machine on and off was just not very safe. You really do need two hands to turn and lock and turn on and off the machine.
Overall, I would not recommend this food processor to anyone until they fix the problems I mentioned above. This thing is dangerous in my opinion, and I would never let a kid use it until it has a separate on and off switch and another button with two different speeds and a pulse button. I was actually scared of the thing the first time I turned it on! It was very jumpy even though I placed it where the manual said to, on an even flat surface.
Otherwise, this machine has promise and I'd love it if they added the items I mentioned above. And, I would then, totally recommend it to anyone, once they added the safety features I just mentioned.
As it is, I give this machine an overall rating of 3 stars combining everything. The safety of this machine gets 2 stars.
