I love this fan! I have a golden retriever and I needed a heavy duty fan that was easy to clean and keep a room cool. The fan has incredible air circulation and keeps an entire room cool. I don’t have an air conditioner and I don’t need one with this fan!

Price is what you pay, value is what you get. Well made fan, worth the price. This is our second one. The first one has been working well for years. I have them in the attic to keep it cooler in the summer. The only downside is keeping the angle in the choose place. The knobs on the side don’t tighten enough.

It moves a lot of air which is just what I was looking for. I use it daily to circulate the stale air out of the bedroom and hallway and out the window. My only disappointment was with the tilt - not sure if mine was defective but it will not stay pointed in the angle I want it, it slowly drifts back to an upward position. I'll probably wedge a rubber stopper to keep it from doing that in the future. Otherwise, great product.

Great but did not last beyond 6-7 years, not good value

Really liked this fan. Robust and practical. But unfortunately it did not last beyond 6-7 years--just died all of a sudden, and it wasn't the fuse. Not Heavy Duty after all, and it wasn't used excessively either. I was told it was out of warranty so I am SOL, and they will give me 30% off on a replacement. I hope the replacement one will last longer than the previous one. It is not a cheap fan.
In my decades of living, I've never had a fan die on me like this one--I've had fans that have lasted decades, including one old Vornado (I have 4 other Vornados too). All my other fans that I've ever purchased are still running. My Aunts in Taiwan have had fans that lasted 60-to-70 years of hard continuous use.
They just don't make them like they used to or have long warranties. Not a good value proposition.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

We use it in our home to cool it down at night so we can close up on hot summer days in the morning. I bought 1 several years ago, I am a design engineer and appreciated the reliable design of this "shop" fan. My wife hated the color when we got it, but after using it for a couple years, she had no problem buying a second one. The color became insignificant after she saw how well the first one worked. Washers should be added under knobs that tighten to stand, that is my only criticism. They should be sized so the brass insert in the knob bears on the washer, I.E. very little play on the stud on the fan.
Pros: Durable, Good Power Output, Quiet, Stable Base
Cons: mounting not balanced, had to tighten too much

HD 283 Shop Fan

I have 5 of the older model HD 283 shop fans and I highly recommend them. Bought them while in South TX and ran them almost 24/7 in the house to bring down the price of cooling the house. They work great. I have 3 running in the house in Okla. and I am holding 2 in reserve. These are the original 5 and they have been running 4 to 6 years without a hiccup. Great fans at a reasonable price for the quality.

Just a quick note to let you know how much I love my Vornado Fan! I have had mine for 4 years now and it runs 24/7 365 days a year. I have the heavy duty model and all I have done is lubricate once a year and have only cleaned it twice. And it still looks great. You have a customer for life! LJCHOICE Oceanside, Ca
