Solid Lens Performer

This lens is amazing!
Its fast, accurate and very quiet thanks to the Super Sonic wave Motor (SSM). For users with the a33 and a55, you will really appreciate the quietness when auto-focusing with video. The focus hold button is a great feature to have as well as the AF/MF switch on the body.
Build quality is excellent which you would expect from a high performance lens with an almost all metal body. The lens hood is also metal with felt in the interior. The lens is pretty heavy almost weighing a kilo so it might not be a great walk around lens for some people but personally its reassuring that it is pretty durable.
Image quality is great! The pictures come out sharp and its pretty consistent throughout the range and from corner to corner. I use this for landscape, portraiture, food photography and everyday shooting. Its my primary lens that performs very well.
If I had to complain, it would be the the zoom ring is a bit stiff but maybe it will loosen up in time. Other than that, Sony and Carl Zeiss came up with an excellent lens to their DSLR/DSLT lineup.
