paper feed problems are daily and inconsistent
on September 20, 2013

1. does not print,
2. feeds multiple blank pages between printed pages.
3. will print 2 to 3 pages then put out up to 15 blank pages.
4. does not pull paper
5. pulls paper 1/4 way then stops
The most frustrating printer we have ever owned. You must hit the paper feed button after each blank page to continue with printing.
1 star only because when it finally prints it is beautiful.

Wonderful Printer

I just love this Printer. I have not used it to it's full capability yet, but it gives such beautiful photos. Even from older photos that I have scanned in with my Epson RX500.
Would recommend this product for your personal needs as well as if you have a small business. You get gorgeous color.
Love the individual ink cartridges...and with Epson it will let you know when you need to order in plenty of time. The ink cartridges will continue to work until they are out completely. They will not print a half page and then say....oops sorry you are out of ink. It will only print if a full page can be done.
Love Epson Printers! Will never buy anything else!

Beautiful prints... if you can get it to print

I love the print quality on this Epson, but it has always had feeding issues, and they have become much worse since the firmware update last summer. I am so frustrated! At this point, only copier-weight paper can be printed more than one sheet at a time... maybe. I have been trying to print on a Moab paper. It spits out, literally, at least 20 for every one sheet it will deign to print. And in order to get it to print on that one sheet, I have to carefully push it in and hold it in a certain way. It won't just take it from the tray by itself. And it will not let me use the single-sheet feeder, because it is a 5"x7" paper. This is ludicrous! This is not a particularly textured, thick or soft paper. I am not trying to print on something exotic. This is a regular inkjet paper that any reasonable printer should accept. But this is no longer a reasonable printer.
I have used nothing but Epson printers since I got my first computer in the 90s, and have always recommended Epson to everyone I know. But the R2000 might be the last Epson I ever buy. Nobody should have this much frustration just trying to print a few pages.

For some odd reason the drivers/software will not allow you to change the Standard Preset default paper and print quality. So unless you change the preset from Standard EVERY time you print, the paper selected is Premium Photo Paper Glossy with gloss optimizer on the entire sheet. If you print out an email the entire sheet is covered with gloss and burns the entire gloss quickly. Windows version allows you to change the standard so you do not need to change these settings every single time you print anything other than a photo. Crazy. Im not a programer but it seem to me it would require about 30 seconds of code to fix this problem. Very disappointing. Perhaps someone from Epson could contact me when they decide to fix this problem.

Best monitor to printer image match
on July 11, 2014

The best thing about the Epson Stylus Photo R2000 printer, is the way it accurately matches what you see on your computer monitor with what you get when your image is printed. Another good feature of the R2000 is that the ink last longer and the colors are eye popping.

Paper feed?

Print quality is very good but the thing has difficulty with the print process, 9 times out of 10 it will just spit the 13" x 19" straight through; got to admit I'm terrified to print from roll stock as I may waste a considerable amount before it decides to print.

Another great printer

I have two Epson R1800 printers, one of which is completely worn out from use. The R2000 is a replacement and will be used exclusively for printing high quality photos, mostly 8-1/2 x 11 size, until I wear out the second R1800 with other work. I have printed identical photos on both printers and I can see no difference between the prints. The R2000 is slower since I used the new feature of selecting between speed and quality, and I chose quality as more important than speed.
I look forward to printing on canvas media (available from Epson) since Epson printers and inks are used for the highest quality giclee prints and I expect similar performance. (The best giclee printers use an enhanced ink sysem with a couple softer color tones added to the CYMK palette.) The R2000 should give enhanced flesh tones because of the extra orange and red cartridges beyond the usual CYMK palette. I've tried it for a photo of a hummingbird with red/orange plumage and doubt that I could ever get better color. The R2000 printer seems to be the best for professional quality color photos.
Ink is expensive for both printers, but the R2000 cartridges are larger capacity for not much increase in price. The print options are enhanced on the R2000, several of which are useful and a few I don't intend using, such as some automatic "color corrections". The media handling options and quality are also improved. I haven't found any downside yet.
If you are satisfied with run of the mill product, someone else's run of the mill printer may cost less, but if you need quality the R2000 is the way to go.

Saving Epson 2000 color settings
on November 16, 2014

I have owned the Epson 1800, 1900 and now the 2000. Unless I haven't read the manuals deeply enough, I find that the 2000 is the only one that does not save the printer settings and tweaks that I make for individually adjusting the color for each photo file I print. I allow the printer to control the color because I need to print from a non-calibrated laptop screen out of necessity. It is an annoyance that I can't save individual settings when I re-save files. Other than that, I am happy with the printer so far.
