Printing technology excellent....but uses up ink too rapidly...and ink is costly.
Operating instructions very inadequate...needs too much guess work. All Instructions should be clear and complete and consequently needs rewriting.

3 Stars for Quality, 5 Stars for Beautiful Prints

I've been using the R2000 for about 1.5 years. I'm actually on my second R2000 because the first one was having paper feed issues about 9 months after buying it. Epson replaced the printer under warranty and the new one worked perfect for about 4 months and now is giving me paper feed problems again. Thankfully I was able to rig it with double sided tape and it works much better (the little wheel that grabs the paper in isn't grabbing the paper well and the printer thinks it's out of paper - the double sided tape helps it grab the paper). Anyways, when it does print, it prints amazing beautiful!!! The colors are rich, vibrant, bright, gorgeous. I have no other complaints other than the paper feed issues. I use this printer for my business in which I sell graphic designs, stationary, invitations, etc and the quality is definitely great enough to sell my work. Photos look amazing. It sucks up ink like crazy. I personally would recommend this printer if you are using it for "light" personal use. I would not recommend it to use as a high volume printer because it just doesn't seem to be able to handle the workload, which might be why I have trouble with it (plus the ink issue!!).

Not worth it.

I bought this product thinking it would be an upgrade from the 1400 and the 1800. It's not. I was sorely displeased in the print quality, which was marginally the same, and it did not print on card stock as suggested in the printer specifications.

Dead on arrival, but superb warranty & replacement

The printer is very sophisticated. It has a feature reducing the likelihood and severity of the problem of ink drying on the jets (ports?), which is what killed my old, reliable, accurate R800, a real pleasure to use. The R2000, however, arrived and, after all of my time to unwrap and un-tape it, then to install the 8 cartridges and the software, the test print failed because "a script failed." I tried to do a "real" print from my photo software, but the printer registered a blocked print head. I was instructed to remove the paper or other foreign material. There was no paper. It had never had paper in it until I tried the test print, and it had still not fed the paper. I uninstalled all the software and re-installed it, and the same problems occurred. It's dead on arrival. I am an EPSON person, but this level of quality assurance was not inspiring. HOWEVER... I called EPSON, and after some confusion about e-mailing of receipts, the company did all one can ask for from a printer maker: they sent me a brand new replacement, BEFORE I returned the defective one, told me to keep the ink cartridges, and arranged for return of the defective printer, all without charge. Go, EPSON! The new one arrived in 3 days, and it is working just fine. Beautiful, archival prints, superb blacks, all it is supposed to be. Thank you, Epson.

Epson 2000 printer

I replaced the R1900 with the R2000 printer and after it was installed the photos the photos I print are dark and and unable to correct to print correctly. The subtle dark area are very dark and if When one lightens these areas the light areas of the photos wash out. When I contacted Epson about the problem, they blamed every thing except trying to resolve the problem. The photos printed correctly on Hewlett Packard printers. The R2000 is not up to par with the R1900 printer.

I ordered this printer for fine art reproduction prints and finally set it up yesterday. There is some important information that no one mentioned in their reviews and is misleading when viewing the product specs. The quality of the prints is very nice and the printer setting and color management really do make a difference. The most difficulty I had was with the paper stock and feeding tray options. I was using the Epson Cold Press Bright at 21 mil. I have since learned that the maximum weight the rear feed will take without issue is 15 mil. The front tray created for thick stock can only feed 13x19 size paper and does not do borderless (full bleed) printing. The standard sheet feeder has no option for this type and thickness of paper. So basically for the borderless, letter size, cold press paper I will need to feed each paper and hope it doesn't jam. This would have been important information to know before I purchased it. All the specifications say is that is accepts this paper stock, it doesn't say: but only in 13x19, borderless printing situations. Besides this set back, the quality for the price is definitely worth it.

After some time with the printer....

Good unit. Colors are excellent. Resolution as expected. Black/White is not as good as color; contrast has to be jacked up to get best results.
Wireless operation good, once connected. Note: DHCP reassignment requires manual intervention. This can cause frustration, but Epson is not unique.
Handles wide/long paper well. Sheet-fed; have not had one mis-feed.
Note: keep papers in airtight package, i.e. ziplock, humid weather takes its toll on the fine papers.

This printer replaced a Stylus Photo R1900. With the R2000 Epson has corrected all that was wrong with the R1900. The ink cartridges last much longer. It also prints black on white pages faster. And, the ink nozzles no longer get plugged up. Like the R1900, the R2000 prints beautiful, glossy photos. I definitely can recommend this printer.
