Pretty Good Printer!

First, I have to admit that I am partial to Epson printers, my first being an Epson FX-80 back in the dark ages of computing. Since then, I have had several dot matrix printers, and starting with an Epson Stylus Photo 1200, I've had several of the inkjet printers. Okay, this is the best so far. I did have a mechanical problem with this as it refused to feed and print the canvas material, even though it printed the paper media like a champ. Epson's support team got me a replacement in just a few days, and the one I'm using now is going great guns. I have almost abandoned my darkroom! I do hundreds of 4X6 prints for my wife's insatiable demand for scrapbooking photos, other sizes for travel and personal. I will grant you that ink usage is heavy, but after getting a CIS, things run more smoothly. From that standpoint, I can only say that Epson's Gloss Optimizer is absolutely the best.

Epson Stylus Photo R2000

I upgraded from the Stylus Photo R1900 and for the little jump in price the output difference is huge. The colors are exact and the clarity is amazing. I'm not too thrilled with the higher priced ink cartrages, but the capacity is larger so they should even out. The benefit is I don't have to order ink as often, which was twice a month. The installation was simple and went very quickly.
Being a freelance photographer, I use printers for various reasons: Epson's All In One Stylus 810 (scanning and other features), Stylus Photo R1900 (everyday photo printing), Stylus Photo R2880 (excellent for black & white), and now the Stylus Photo R2000, which will now be my main printer. There's no room for improvement because the picture quality is already exceptional. I would definitely recommend this printer to anyone who's looking to print professional looking pictures. Anyone going elsewhere would be making a huge and costly mistake.

Great general purpose printer.
For the price, the photo quality is stunning.
Use presentation paper in some of my applications, and the color redention is very good.
Also like the larger printer cartridges.

Very Capable Printer

I have had the printer for over 4 months now and must confess it has not been used a lot. I have another color printer (Epson Artisan 835) and that is used for my every day printing needs.
When I have used the R2000, the quality of the print is excellent. What is the only drawback is how slow it prints. For example, printing an image that is 13" x 19" will take in excess of 15 minutes to print. If I printed an 8.5" x 11" image, that would take about 5-6 minutes. When an 8.5" x 11" is printed on the Artisan 835, the print is completed in less than 1-2 minutes and the quality is the same (or maybe even better).
Issues I have had with the R2000 is the installation (I have had to install the printer 3 times but not because of the printer) is not intuitive or easy, especially the wireless part. Another issue is when power is lost to the system, the printer must be manually turned on. The Artisan 835 automatically restarts if it was on when power was lost.
Bottom line - I really like the printer. I did not purchase it because of how quickly it could print (although I wish it were quicker). I wanted a printer that could do larger format photos and provide excellent quality. The R2000 delivers.

it is hard to use; the wireless function never seems to work. Results when you finally get them are ok. Ink is very expensive.

What a surprise !

I bought one of the first 1280 printers years ago for larger format proofs to show clients, and even started doing archival prints of my old rock posters. When it finally died – I worked with an Epson rep on the phone, and we chose this R2000 unit as a likely upgrade. Just bought a box of Epson Cold Press white archival paper, and am printing the most incredible giclee quality prints that can now be distributed through a poster merchandizer. Not bad on ink use either ... great machine !

After several years of using an Epson Stylus Photo R1900 with great results I decided that it might be time to replace it.
I am delighted with the new Epson Stylus R2000. In my opinion the prints are flawless and it is a delight to see them come out on the tray. Photography has been a passonate hobby of mine for many years and with the great cameras available now and the ability to capture that photo on the computer and print it flawlessly is the end of the rainbow.

Great Printer But...

I bought this printer about 9 months now. It replaced my beloved epson 2200 (clogged head). The print quality on the R2000 is great whether you print color or B/W. I also love the fact that I don't have to change ink when I switch from glossy to matte. The only reason I'm not giving it 5 stars is because the wireless network seemed to be flawed. While the light indicates that its working/connected, I get an error message on my Mac saying that it can't locate the printer. I solved this by deleting the driver and re-installing, but this is a pain as it's happened more than once on the same day. If this continues in the future I will have to use a wired connection for continued use. Now that defeat the purpose of buying a wireless printer. Otherwise the print quality is great if you can live with its sub par wireless operation. I recently change internet provider, but I doubt that has anything to do with it because it worked fine after I re-installed it on the new network.
