I've used our Vitamix for a variety of uses: soups, smoothies, vegetable and fruit drinks, and ice cream. In each case, the machine did exactly what it was supposed to do. It's like having extra help in the kitchen.

I bought the machine thinking it would be for multipurpose use. I tried on several occasions to make nut butter it simply does not work as they claim, basically it just makes very smooth smoothies....

I have had this for a month and I'm greatly impressed with it. It works so fast, that I'm often wondering if I have it on a setting too high. Seconds - SECONDS - to blend a smoothie. Sometimes, the blade will stop (because I think it's ben running too high) but if I remove the container and replace, it's back to normal. I think it's a safety feature.

The measurement markings, "mm" or "oz" markings are clear like the pitcher. This makes it impossible to see the marking. So it is difficult to tell how much material one is putting into the container. I have an older Vitamix and the container's measuring markings are in black so it is very easy to tell how much one is adding to the container. For this reason it is difficult to use the containers to measure how much is being added. For this reason I gave it a 1 star and also would not recommend this model to others.

Had a stainless steel model since 1965. Still perfect but wanted a new one. M old one you reversed forward/backward to do ice, etc. This is really nice and bigger. The stainless stel is also good looking after 50 years.

Love making smoothies for me and the kids. They are always wanting to help (even though they plug their ears as soon as it's turned on). Can get stuck with an air pocket if you have too much frozen stuff. Keeping the tamper handy is a good idea.
