Have owned this scanner for 5-6 years in a small business environment. It sits on our network and is accessed by Windows, Mac, and Linux machines. No problem with drivers. It is used by the business folks for bulk document scanning, contracts, etc. The graphics department uses it regularly for images, photos, etc. There have been periods of very high usage, and other times when it sits around unused for a month.
Both the business and graphics departments are happy with the scan quality and we have not had any issues with the scanner to date.

This is my first Epson scanner. I changed because my old scanner continually had multiple feed problems and the non-replaceable lamp was causing defects in the final scan. I spent more time babysitting than scanning.
I use this scanner daily to create and append pdf's in my office. This machine just does what I tell it to do as long as I select the installed Epson software to manage the scan.
When using this scanner to create pdf documents be sure to select Custom Scan/ in Acrobat and then in the Scanner Options select "Native Mode" and "Show Scanner's Native Interface" which will bring up Epson's "Epson Scan" software. Here you can determine Color/Grascale/BW, orientation, resolution, and whether you want the flatbed or Single/Double ADF. If you use the default Acrobat scan it will be dog slow but Epson Scan just does what you want and fast.
I am very pleased and as long as Epson keeps up the quality they have a customer for life.

I have had my GT-2500 Plus less than a month. After scanning several hundred pages the scanner was leaving a line down the side of the page. The repair shop has had it for a week and told me it will next week before I get. Not real impressed at this time.

This scanner lasted about 6 months of minimal use before it decided to quit. Called the support and they said "send it in for repairs" a very convenient approach for anyone that works in a busy office. Just about the time I got around to boxing it up, it started working again, to my great glee. Then, 2 months later, it died again. Red button, errors all the time. Pretty expensive to not work more than a year.

When it works it great, the model line is a lemon

I got this scanner to scan books for school. I remove all the binding and use a paper cutter to ensure that everything meets Epson's guide lines. When it works the ADF is super and does a great job. The flat bed scans chripser then I can see in Real Life. The problem is that every year I'm forced to take this thing into the shop to have it repaired. I see that the price has come off greatly in the 3yrs that I have own it but I must say I feel I was sold a lemon.

GT-2500 scanner

So far, we have been a light user of the GT-2500, although we expect to scan thousands of pages that would be otherwise be difficult to relocate or preserve. The image quality of the GT-2500 is excellent, the automatic sheet feeder solid. Apparently, 600 dpi goes to the limit of any text that could be scanned (which we typically do as JPG or PDF), although 300 dpi is adequate for a high-quality scan, and on rare occasion some additional detail can be retrieved from a rare photo at 1200 dpi TIFF.
We have learned that we almost never can improve on Epson’s automatic scan settings, although we leave the Text Enhancement feature on for all text documents, since it cleans-up the fine details, the noise and the printing artifacts that are undesirable and unintended, which are naturally not originated by the scanner, including minimizing or eliminating any image details which would be visible through the back side of a thin page. On rare occasion, if a half-tone image is being scanned I do turn-on Descreening and Unsharpen Mask, which naturally does produce a greatly improved, clean image.
This may be the first time I have not had a significant list of complaints that could be remedied by engineering; who, for those who don’t know, are almost always rapidly moved on to the next project by management, without correcting all the known bugs, nor being allowed to implement needed refinements, which apparently is an all too common business strategy, which no doubt is unresolvable when imaginative and technically savvy engineers are not a decisive part of management.
With appreciation for your excellent efforts.
