I bought a Vornado Model CR1-0035 Type 285 'awhile back some'... I believe it to be very near the same specification as the, "783 Circulator B". They look identical. I bought it for it's intended purpose, to circulate air in my home. Now I don't live in a large house so it's rarely on full blast however, it's on ALL the time year round. Yes, we turn it off when we go on vacation but otherwise it is running 24/7 and only gets noticed if someone un plugged it when they vacuumed around it. This year the motor has finally started to sound a bit tired and like most things today, it's probably cheaper to replace than find a new set of motor brushes to fix it. Reflecting on the original purchase... three houses, two kids, three cats, three dogs, and two wives ago, I realized this fan has been a dependable work horse for 15 years! I bought it 1999. I think you'd be hard pressed to find any appliance that will run non-stop for 15 years. Unlike other reviewers, I don't have anything to compare my fan with. I've only needed the one and it hasn't crossed my mind until now. I sure hope they make 'em like they used to because selecting a replacement is a no-brainer.

Our ceiling fan in the bedroom wasn't moving enough air due to the short ceiling so my husband and I bought this fan to help cool off the room. It sends steady blast of air through the bedroom making our sleep experience much more enjoyable. The fan works just as described and we love it so far, we are wanting to buy another fan for the family room.
Pros: Good Power Output

This fan has more power on it's lowest setting than most fans have period! The best (and most expensive) fan I've ever owned by far!! Absolutely love it! Our house has no ac and gets up to 100 degrees inside during summer, in the evening we place this fan outside pointing out And you can literally watch the temp drop!!
Pros: Adjustable, Beautiful, Durable, Good Power Output, Semi Quiet

Use this fan year round. Blows heat out of room with a wood heater in it during winter, and helps to circulate air during summer. Have had fan for about 5 years now and never had any issue with it.
Pros: Adjustable, Compact, Durable, Good Power Output, Lightweight, Quiet

Worth the money

I have had my Vornado fan for around 10 years and I would never go back to another brand of fan. It has moved with me from Kansas to California to Canada. I now want to get a second one - not to replace it, but for another room. It is powerful, quiet, and effective. The only really down side I have had with the fan is keeping it dust free on the blades, but maybe that is more a fault of me than the fan itself. It is not overly complicated to take apart to clean but due to it being black, it tends to show dust easily. (stating Kansas since this brand isn't in Canada)
