I find the printer very slow as compared to the HP printer I had before.. The scanning takes forever.

Set up was no problem, even wireless which went well. Software for 8600 seems to have regressed from past software that was precise, time saving and was easy to use. To scan from the computer to the printer has too many steps and I never did find good and complete instructions how to do each step in scanning.
But it is a good printer from all the functions it offers. Emachine can be a pain if you wish to use it because each time I turned the printer off I lost my IP address. I then just used the USB connection so I could turn my printer off. If you leave your printer on always, the e function is fine.

Unsatsfactory so far.

I have been unable to connect this printer to my new HP Compaq 8100 Elite computer for ten days. Computer does not recognize printer. HP help thus far has not resolved it yet. I have no idea whether printer is good or bad. So far it is unsatistactory, but it may turn out to be fine.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I looked at the box it came in and got nervious but I shouldn't have jumped the gun, because after I revewed th install instructions I found that it was a lot easier to install tham I thought. Then When I set it up it was a f a lot easier than I thought.

After 1 week this assessment is the 8600 is a much refined printer compared to the 85oo (even) and definitely the C6280.
I will update after 6-12 months WRT reliability, ink usage etc.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Very good printer. I have it set up wireless and its much faster than my last HP wireless. It's suppose to be a little less thirsty for the ink but we'll have to wait and see on that. So far, so good.....I like it.
