Seriously dissapointing

My son bought this new printer to go with the new computer (Windows 7) he installed for me when he was over vissiting from Australia. We got it because unlike my old printer it was able to scan documents and that is a big plus for me to send him things to Australia.
Well he connected it up and it printed, and it copied but it simply would not scan. He told me that the basic machine was OK because the copying worked and the printing worked but for some reason it kept putting up error messages when he tried to make it scan.
He spent a LOT of time on the web trying to find an answer to the problem but the HP website was completley useless and when he went out into the forums he found that everyone else was having the same problem and unable to find a way to fix it.
He had to go back to Australia and I am left now with a printer and copier but no scanner. The dissapointment at the failure of this to work straight out of the boix was eclipsed by the totalk lack of help available from the HP support sites.

I would say to anyone contemplating buying this machine or to be honest any HP machine - DON'T.

Excellent printer for photo's and any type of copying. I copy many different types of brochure and they are excellent. Especially for double sided printing on 90 gram paper. No see through ink.Highly recommend this as a quick economical printer which does the job it says it will do.

Won't scan and no help on HP website

Very Poor machine. - running windows 7 on a brand new PC - will print, will copy but won't scan - no relevant help available from HP on their website and no way to make contact with them - brick walls in all directions. I feel very let down and I will never buy HP - if it doesn't work you are out of luck. Extremely sub-standard.

Great little printer

Purchased product as had previously had a Hewlett placard printer scanner copier. Easy to install great price and automatic double sided printing. I also wanted to print from iPad and iPhone and this was very easy to achieve

Product purchased so it could be situated away from computer and operated by wireless link. From the start we had problems getting the scan-to-computer to work and often the computer would not recognise the printer. However HP helpdesk were very helpful and patient and spent a lot of time trying to help us but although we got most of the facilities to work the scan-to-computer has only ever been intermittent.
We have now given up on the wireless link and have a hard connection. Apart from this one issue, the quality of printing and scanning is excellent and machine is easy to use with a simple touch screen.

First class printer

I have owned several printers, all HP,but this Photosmart 6510 is far and away the best. With two sided printing and apps. for direct functions it is ideal for home and small business use.
Setup was simple and quick, once I realised what was happening!
