Great printer at the price

I bought this Photosmart 5510 all-in-one printer and it does what it says on the specification. An excellent product for the price and I would recommend it to friends. It suits home 'office' work. Two recommendations I would make are: Noise suppression during printing and paper tray volume improved. But, I would change anything if it means increasing the price. Well done HP

Still room for improvement

I bought this printer as a replacement for a HP Photosmart B110 which developed a scanning fault after two years. I chose the HP Photosmart 5510 because my requirements had not changed and this was the nearest equivalent I could find which would use the spare cartridges I had (the value of which was nearly the same as the cost of the new printer). I do not use the new printer wirelessly and I have no need for any of the facilities the wireless option offers. I am very satisfied with the print quality, especially the quality of A4 photo prints. The print speed is reasonable. Whilst it does the basics entirely satisfactorily, I do have some criticisms. The paper tray is not so straightforward to use as the previous model and it does not hold as much paper as I would like. The 'initialisation process' seems to take for ever, and is noisy. The printer does not come with an explanation of how to remove the cover (to copy from large maps, books etc.) but if you use your initiative you can go online and find out. The lip for lifting the cover is a little too small. Overall I am not disappointed, but there is still room for improvement of the basic characteristics that are important to me.

I am very dissatisfied with this purchase. Firstly, it has this crazy idea that when you need to print an envelope or change to an A5 size sheet you have to remove and replace the A4 sheets each time. If this was not necessary with previous models why introduce this ridiculous procedure with a so-called upgraded model? Secondly, the scanning did not work and it took several sessions of technical help to fix it. Worst of all, I have twice communicated my dissatisfaction with the Irish HP sales office and still have heard nothing.

Lacking in basics

Previous HP printers I have had have been good and easy to use. Had to buy this new one to use with iPad, but setting up wirelessly was easy. However its very noisy and slow each time you turn it on. It also is very vague about ink levels and not clear when ink has actually run out. I thought separate cartridges would be more cost effective but they only seem to last a very short time. Disappointing.

Was in the need for a new AIO after my previous long running HP model failed to power up after approx 10 yrs use. Was looking out for a wireless model and one that had individual inks this time round and came across the 5510 at a heavily discounted price in a local store that was closing...was a no brainer. Setup was easy based on the provided manual and software cd, and within a morning all my family were connected on our wireless network. For my use which is variable but certainly not over heavy, the product meets my needs very well and looks to be a great replacement (and upgrade) from my previous HP AIO (a 1350)
